Child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein spent his final days in prison living in fear of the MS-13 gang, unable to sleep due to his cellmate’s incessant chattering and battling constipation.

More than 2,000 pages of Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) records recently obtained by The New York Times – just days before Epstein’s alleged co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell is set to start trial – revealed Epstein had been deemed ‘cooperative,’ ‘goal directed,’ and ‘psychologically stable’ in the days before he took his own life.

Although he ‘adamantly denied suicidality’ after being placed on suicide watch for 31 hours after an apparent attempt to end his life, Epstein told officials he feared for his safety.

His medical experts put him under psychological observation and prescribed him constipation medication. They also gave him books to read.

Epstein, a registered prostitute with two 2008 convictions for solicitation and procurement of minors for prostitution, was sentenced to 13 months after pleading guilty. He hanged himself in his New York City jail cell on August 10, 2019.

Epstein stated to another psychologist during a psychological evaluation just days before he arrived at the prison.

According to reports, he also requested to talk with his lawyer and take a shower. The psychologist observed that Epstein was courteous and had some sense of humor.

“He was futuristic,” wrote the psychologist. He noted that he denies ever having sexually assaulted any person and believed he’d be freed after the renewal of his bail hearing.

According to the medical examiner, the financier committed suicide with his bedsheet on August 10.

While awaiting his trial for sex trafficking charges, he was declared dead and would face 45 years imprisonment if convicted.

Epstein was taken to the Federal Jail in Lower Manhattan, July 6, 2019. He was detained aboard his private plane at Teterboro Airport, New Jersey after his return from Paris.

Prison documents dated July 12, 2019 revealed that Epstein complained that he was 'upset about wearing an orange jumpsuit and being treated like "a bad guy" when he did not do anything wrong in the prison'. He asked why he had to wear the brightly-colored jumpsuit 'due to his being housed in SHU'

Epstein was pronounced dead while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges and was facing 45 years in prison if convicted. An indictment stated that Epstein had recruited dozens of teenage girls throughout the 1990s and early 2000s to engage in sexual acts with him and his billionaire friends at his mansion in Manhattan, estate in Palm Beach and private island in St Thomas

The federal prison that had been struggling to survive was closed two years later after Epstein committed suicide. BOP blamed the crumbling infrastructure and security measures at the federal jail, once one of the safest detention facilities in the country.

The 233 inmates at the prison when it closed were transferred to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

According to an indictment, Epstein recruited many teenage girls over the course of the 1990s and 2000s for sexual acts at his Manhattan estate and Palm Beach estate as well as his private island in St Thomas.

According to indictment, he agreed to pay hundreds of dollars to young women in exchange.

The 66 year-old died after losing his freedom. He spent many hours in conference rooms, meeting with lawyers and then spent days before his death talking to psychologists about his mental health.

He also reminisced about his star-studded social circle and even offered psychologists and other inmates investment advice.

Furthermore, he claimed that he felt upset about his orange jumpsuit. He was also complaining of being called a “bad guy” for not doing anything in prison.

He inquired why the jumpsuit was so brightly colored because he was being held in SHU – also called Special Housing Units or ‘the hole’. This is the Federal BOP’s place to segregate prisoners through disciplinary actions.

Epstein requested that he wear a brown uniform on his legal visits and was told that his concerns would be taken up at the SHU meeting.

Epstein repeatedly lied to correctional officials and told those who spoke with him in his 36 day detention that they had lots to live for.

The Times reports that there are no conspiracy theories that Epstein’s suicide was real or that he was murdered by others.

They also detailed Epstein’s lies to correctional officers.

According to the court documents, he didn’t appear in distress and was even living a wonderful life despite having been placed on suicide watch.

The Times filed a lawsuit against The BOP in order to gain access to the documents. The task force was said to be committed to strengthening suicide prevention programs.

Epstein died one month later after hanging himself from his prison cell. The Times reported that William Barr (then US Attorney General) attributed Epstein’s death to a perfect storm’ of mistakes.

Barr said there were ‘serious irregularities’ at the Metropolitan Correctional Center, and although he failed to elaborate, a 15-page psychological report of the billionaire’s death compiled by bureau officials five weeks after Epstein died said that his identity ‘appeared to be based on his wealth, power and association with other high-profile individuals’.

Meanwhile, the trial of former socialite Ghislaine Maxwell – who is charged with recruiting and grooming four underage girls for financier Epstein to abuse from 1994 to 2004 – is scheduled for Monday.

Maxwell pleaded guilty to the charges of sex trafficking, and other offenses.
