John Barrowman said that the flashing drama on Doctor Who was exaggerated. He gave his first interview after he had been fired from Dancing On Ice due to the accusations.
54-year old actor issued an apology for making a public appearance on Doctor Who. The star has since been dropped from ITV’s skating program’s judging board.
And speaking in an interview with Lorraine on Tuesday, John gave his side of the story as he candidly said: ‘All the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there, they don’t know the context of things that were done.’

His side: John Barrowman has revealed that the drama surrounding his flashing on the Doctor Who set are ‘exaggerated ‘ as he gave his first interview since he was sacked from Dancing On Ice in the wake of the claims
The TV star described his past actions on set as ‘silly behaviour’ and insisted to host Lorraine Kelly, 61, that he would ‘never do it now’ after previously admitting to ‘tomfoolery’ on the sets of Doctor Who, where he began playing Captain Jack Harkness in 2005 and spin-off series Torchwood a year later.
Lorraine asked John if his behavior had crossed the line. John said that it could happen anytime today, but was quick and furious to say that people were making sexual harassment of his actions.
He stated, “It would be borderline dangerous if it were now.” It was a bawdy, stupid behavior that occurred 15 years ago. We were like a group of family members, all working together.
‘The fact that it was stories that I’ve already told. I’ve been telling them for years. I haven’t hidden anything, they’ve been exaggerated, and they’ve tried to turn them into sexual harassment which it absolutely is not.’

Sorry: The actor, 54, issued an apology in May for exposing himself on Doctor Who set in historic incidents, with the star since dropped from the ITV skating show’s judging panel (pictured filming Doctor Who in 2007)
The actor went on: ‘The one thing for me, all the people that are making the fuss about it, they weren’t there, they don’t know the context of things that were done.
‘Like I said, I would never do it now but what we’re not allowing people and myself to do… we’re not allowing people to learn to adapt and to change, and that’s the most important thing.’
John responded to a question about whether he believes he’s ‘changed’ or adapted from the way he used to be in the past. And we’ve moved on. At this point, I’m ready to continue moving forward.
After allegations that he exposed himself in May, there were no charges against him. However, there were more serious accusations of sexual harassment against Noel Clarke (Doctor Who) and he.
These incidents were revealed in a YouTube video that was re-surfaced from 2014. It was filmed at Chicago Tardis, a sci-fi convention.
The Guardian newspaper, which investigated Clarke’s conduct on Doctor Who, published the report.

Clarke gives an interview to a live audience.
John stated that he tried to avoid awkwardness while filming scenes in Torchwood sex scenes.
He explained that as Captain Jack Harkness, I was Torchwood’s star so it was up to me to manage the company and entertain them. It was obvious in my script that I would be naked when I did a nude or love scene. Everyone knew at least 48 hours before.
So I would be in my trailer waiting wearing a simple robe and a socks over my “parts.” If I was waiting for a scene in which I had to nude someone, and they came up to me, I would make a joke about it to get them to relax.
“My actions were intended to disarm any awkwardness that might arise among the crew and cast.”
He continued, “I’ve never been embarrassed about my body.” It didn’t matter to me that anyone saw me naked. My “tomfoolery”, as I like to call it, was motivated by the desire to keep a fun atmosphere. My actions were completely non-sexual and I have never been charged with that.
John disclosed that he was summoned to meet Julie Gardner (executive producer for Doctor Who and Torchwood), who advised him not to behave.
He said that he now realizes his behavior was “juvenile” and would never do it again.
