Variety has not revealed any details regarding Depp’s latest film, but Maiwenn, the director, will portray Jeanne du Barry (the monarch’s last mistress), Variety reported.

Filming the movie will take place over three months in Paris at different landmarks, most of which are at Versailles Palace.

Louis XV ruled France for 59 Years, making him the second-longest reigning French monarch.

Biography.com says that he was popular among his constituents in the War Of Austrian Succession. He ‘took the field himself’ and’sought to assume the leadership of the country’s affairs’.

After recovering from an illness, he was nicknamed ‘Le Bien Aime’ (or ‘The Well-Loved) by his constituants.

But he was unpopular at the time of his death in May 10, 1774, after being accused of debauchery and corruption, according to Variety.

Following his accusation of domestic violence from his ex-wife Heard, Depp is embroiled within controversy.

After The Sun newspaper called him a “wife beater” and sued, he lost his high-profile case before the High Court of London in July 2020. Heard, who was accused of verbal abuse and physical abuse in 2016 filed for divorce. His wife testified in London.

In the wake of the incident, Depp was forced to resign from his role as a Fantastic Beasts director and was eventually replaced by Mads Mikkelsen.

Last year, Depp was granted the legal right to file a $50,000,000 defamation suit against Heard in America.

In September, Depp stated that he was a victim to cancel culture. He warned others not to be afraid and encouraged them all to stand up for their rights.

Depp spoke in San Sebastian (Spanish city), before accepting the honorary award for the film festival.

Depp explained to Spanish audiences that he sees himself as a victim. He was also concerned about society’s wider implications.

Depp addressed the audience before accepting his award and shared his views on cancel culture.

In September, Depp stated that he was a victim to cancel culture. He warned everyone not to be safe and encouraged those who were affected to stand up for their rights.

He said that it can be described as an historical event, which lasted however long, this cancel culture and this rush to judgment based upon what basically amounts to polluted atmosphere. Deadline reports this statement.

“It is so out of control now, that I can guarantee you that nobody is safe. You are all dangerous. There is no one outside that door. There is no one safe.

It only takes one sentence to make it clear that the floor is done.

Depp stated that his concern wasn’t just for him.

He said, “It’s not only me that this has occurred to, it’s happened also to many other people.”

“This is what has happened to both men and women.”

In the wake of the incident, Depp was forced to resign from his position in Fantastic Beasts and was eventually replaced by Mads Mikkelsen.

He stated that it didn’t matter if the judgment per se had taken artistic license.

‘When there’s an injustice, whether it’s against you or someone you love, or someone you believe in – stand up, don’t sit down. Because they are dependent on you.

Deadline reported that Depp is happy to answer any questions regarding his recent career status, despite his ongoing case against Heard.

When a journalist asked Spain’s Association of Female Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media about the Award, the organization released a statement that said the award sent a ‘terrible message to public’. Festival organizers intervened and stopped him from answering, insisting that he would only talk about his professional career.

Depp said later that he was concerned that his presence at festival could ‘offend people’. However, he insisted that he did not want to offend anyone.

He expressed his appreciation for the event’s director Jose Luis Rebordinos and San Sebastian’s mayor for their “unending support”.

They were thanked for not buying a notion about him that didn’t exist for too long.

However last year Depp won the right to proceed with a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Heard in the U.S.

Depp stated, “I’ve never done anything. I only make movies.”

Depp expressed dismay at the current state in the film industry, and specifically how streaming was taking off.

He claimed that many people (including him) realized they were disposable.

He replied, “Hollywood certainly is not the same as it used to be.”

‘The studio system, the grudge matches, the pandemonium and chaos of cinematic releases to streaming… it is a case of, ‘no matter what, I’m going to get mine’.

“That’s where these people come from.

“They understand they’re disposable just like I am. And even more.

These things are now in the hands of large, powerful corporations. What more formula does a person who participates in creating film need from studios? What more contempt do audiences need?

“I believe that Hollywood has grossly underestimated its audience.”

Depp answered a question about the future of the Pirates of the Caribbean character of Captain Jack Sparrow. He said the character wouldn’t leave him and no one would ever be able to take it away.

Deadline reports that he then entertained the crowd by performing an impromptu Captain Jack impression.

He appeared in Spain a month following his release from a Spanish court. He was allowed to continue with the $50 million defamation case against Heard.

A Virginia judge decided that the lawsuit can be continued. This was on the basis of a Washington Post Op-Ed in 2018 she had written, where she claimed she was a victim of domestic violence.

Although Depp was not mentioned in her story, she had publicly accused him for abusing the woman in 2016’s split.
