Kate Garraway said that Derek Draper has become a bit weaker after a fun day at a pantomime.

GMB’s star, and her husband, were seen at a pantomime with Darcey (15, and William (12), – Derek’s first trip since his diagnosis of Covid 2020.

Kate, who appeared via videolink at Tuesday’s GMB said that Derek believed the trip was worth it to have the opportunity to spend time with his family.

Kate told her GMB colleagues that her husband is doing well when she was asked. He is extremely fatigued, very tired and weak.

“After the pantomime, he didn’t get out of bed. But I believe he believed it was worthwhile. It was an amazing experience to sit with them, hold their hands and do something ordinary. It took all of his energy.

“We don’t know what next year holds.” He smiled, was present. Although speech isn’t possible, you can still see. [in a photo from the pantomime trip]He knows something is special and that he has a part of it. “You’re tired. Do you want to do it?” I told him that. He said yes! Yes!”‘

Kate stated that Kate and her family were currently in the process of making a Christmas gift. a second documentary portraying  the aftermath of Derek returning home from hospital last year ‘and how it affects us as a family as well as navigating the system.’

This documentary is a follow-up to the ITV award-winning film Finding Derek. Kate produced it in 2021 while her husband was in hospital. 

Kate used GMB’s appearance to discuss her MBE which she was awarded in the New Year’s Honours.

According to the TV Star, she admitted to some backlash after receiving this honor.It all makes me feel awkward, but I am also thrilled and honored. What do you think? She explained that you then think it’s fake.

She said, “There’s been quite a lot of comments ever since that I noticed people saying, “Why has she got it?”. It’s almost like you feel that I’m not good enough to care for Derek.

It’s used for charity and broadcasting. It’s strange to feel that there are so many people who deserve it.  

Derek was admitted to the hospital after contracting coronavirus. After more than a year of treatment, he returned to his home in order to see Kate, Darcey (15), and William (12). 

Sad: Derek was hospitalised because the virus wreaked havoc throughout his entire body, resulting in kidney failure, liver and pancreatic damage

Derek had to be admitted because of the viral infection that caused severe damage throughout his body. He suffered from kidney failure and liver problems.
