A Kazakh oligarch who paid £3million over the asking price for Prince Andrew’s marital Sunninghill Park estate has been forced to resign as the head of a leading business lobby in his country after public anger over corruption allegations.
Timur Kulibayev (55), the son-in law of Kazakhstan’s autocratic ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev, confirmed his resignation from the Atameken business lobby in a statement.
According to authorities, 225 people were killed in protests against perceived corruption in Kazakhstan and recent energy increases in Kazakhstan, which included 19 military personnel and law enforcement officers.
Prince Andrew continues to face questions over the sale of his home in Ascot, Berkshire, to Kulibayev in 2007 for £15 million – even though the asking price was £12million and it had languished on the market for five years.
When he married Sarah Ferguson, his mother Queen gave the estate to him. The couple moved into their new home in 1990.
Andrew has denied wrongdoing repeatedly and has been accused in several instances of fixing the situation. Kulibayev is an entrepreneur and a friend to the Nazarbayev tycoon.
Today’s MPs asked the National Crime Agency (NCIA) to investigate the sale and purchase of the duke’s house. Labour’s Margaret Hodge stated that:Over the past few years, corruption has infected all aspects of politics.
“Prince Andrew” is just one example of the many public figures who are kleptocrats trying to get help for this country.
“I believe that Britain helps Kazakhstan’s elite to launder cash out of the country,” he said.
The announcement comes just days following the removal of Prince Andrew’s royal patronages and titles by Queen Victoria. Andrew was then ordered to take on Virginia Roberts as a “private citizen” in order to combat his sex accusations.

In a statement, Mr Kulibayev (55) stated that he had resigned as Chairman of the Presidium of National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”.
Kulibayev married Dinara Kulibayeva. She is the middle child of Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan’s founder president.
Popular anger at Nazarbayev was largely directed towards him, as he ruled the country for over a quarter century before being forced to step down and give power to an elected loyalist.
Nazarbayev is not visible in the public eye since last year’s end.
Kassym Jomart – Tokayev was the successor to him and openly criticised him last week. He accused his mentor of not sharing the nation’s vast wealth with the ordinary citizens.
Tokayev’s office Monday confirmed that Samat Abish the nephew of the Nazarbayevs had been removed from his job as first deputy head of the national safety committee.
The announcement that Abish was being replaced was made during unrest. He was then only on an ‘annual leave’ until Monday’s confirmation of his firing.
Abish, a powerful figure operating in the shadows of the ruling elite, was Abish. Kulibayev however was an influential jet-setter who was reported to have had relationships with Queen Elizabeth II’s second-born Prince Andrew.

Kulibayev destroyed Sunninghill Park in 2015 to build a home. It was once a shambles and had been likened to Tesco Superstore. Images (above), show how Kulibayev was getting close to completing the ultra-modern home replacement.
Kulibayeva and Kulibayeva control the nation’s biggest commercial bank, Halyk. Kulibayev is an important player in the oil & gas industry.
Although he did not give any reason, he called for the lobby to adhere to the business priorities set out by Tokayev last week in his address to legislators and officials.
Samruk-Kazyna, a sovereign wealth fund, announced Saturday that the two Nazarbayev-in-laws were no longer at the helms of the national energy companies.
Dimash Dosanov is the youngest son of Aliya Nazarbayeva, and Dariga Nazarbayeva was the oldest. They were both formerly the head of the KazTransOil national oil company and QazaqGaz national gas company QazaqGaz.
Authorities said that Nazarbayev’s ally, Karim Masimov, was also arrested last week on charges of coup-plating. He was along with two other deputies.
On Thursday, more than 2,000 soldiers from the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organisation were credited with stabilising crisis. They began withdrawing from Kazakhstan.
Kulibayev destroyed Sunninghill Park, which was a Tesco Superstore because of its ugly appearance. He wanted to build a home.
The home’s ultra-modern, sprawling replacement was almost complete last year.
You will find six bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and French doors. There is also a 25-meter swimming pool.
Previous home featured 12 bedrooms. In 1990, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife, moved into the home.
In 2002, after the couple’s divorce in 1996 the property was placed on the marketplace.
Andrew moved two years later to Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park. Sarah and their daughters Beatrice & Eugenie continued at Sunninghill up until 2006.
In 2015, demolition began after bats found their new homes and permission to build a new house was granted.
