Lionel Messi from Paris Saint-Germain has revealed that he still wants to travel to Barcelona and ‘to help’ the club.
In the end, six-time Ballon d’Or winner and Barcelona legend was forced to leave his beloved city in the summer because of financial difficulties.
Messi already stated his desire to return to Spain, and he has again reaffirmed his choice.
Lionel Messi (L), reiterated his desire to return to Barcelona. Now managed by Xavi, (R),
He said, “I always stated that I would return to Barcelona at some point, as it was my home, and I had lived there for many years,” Marca.
“I will always be there to assist the club and, obviously, if I am able to contribute, then I would love for the club to have me back.”
Messi had to sensationally walk away from Barcelona and leave the Spanish giants for good, despite being widely expected to remain at the Nou Camp.
He was free to sign a new contract after his previous deal expired.
Barca team-mates Messi und Xavi were teammates for over 11 years. They won a variety of trophies with each other.
Messi had been in the running for a new long-term contract, though with lower terms and pay, but financial LaLiga rules prevented an agreement.
Instead, the Argentina international completed a stunning move to PSG on a two-year deal worth £1million a week.
Messi scored four goals and provided one assist so far for the French giants. He also made his debut in Ligue 1 with the 3-1 win over Nantes.
His old team Barcelona won their first league victory since October 17, beating Espanyol. Messi’s ex-teammate Xavi started his tenure as manager by scoring three points.
Messi will also be there for Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Manchester City.
“With Xavi Barcelona are going grow,” he stated. He said, “He’s a coach who knows everything and knows how to make the house perfect.”
