Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo was attacked in his own home by four burglars on Thursday night.
After fighting off the intruders who stole jewellery, the 27-year old sustained facial injuries.
Cancelo’s partner, Daniela and baby daughter were in the house when the ordeal took place, an incident which left the full back shaken.

Portugal’s international living in Manchester posted a photo of himself to Instagram, documenting his injuries following the attack.
‘Unfortunately today I was assaulted by four cowards who hurt me and tried to hurt my family,’ he said.
‘When you show resistance this is what happens. They took all of my jewelry and left me in this horrible state.
‘I don’t know how there are people with such meanness. For me, my family is most important and they all seem to be fine.
‘And after so many obstacles in my life, this is just one more than I will overcome. Firm and strong, like always.’

Cancelo, 27, lives in the same house as Daniela and their daughter Alicia.
Pep Guardiola’s City side, which leads the Premier League table this season, had Cancelo regularly.
City beat Brentford 1-0 on Wednesday night. He played 90 minutes. In all competitions, he has been part of City’s 26-man roster. Portugal: He holds 31 caps.
Cancelo joined City in 2019 in a £60m transfer from Italian giants Juventus. During his time here, he has been awarded the League Cup and the Premier League.
