McDonald’s shocked customers today when it announced that their breakfast wraps and bagels would be removed permanently from its menu.
People who loved the products posted emojis of their dismay and claimed that these were their only breakfast options.
After closing their stores when the pandemic hit, the chains gradually opened new locations in May 2020.
Customers had hoped that bagels and wraps might be back on the menu, but McDonald’s announced today that they are no longer available.
It has around 1300 stores in Britain. The chain also stated that McMuffins will be available at 99p through its mobile app to try to mitigate the damage.
In a light-hearted 131-word statement intended to read like a celebrity break-up announcement, the chain tweeted: ‘It is with love and deep respect for one another that we announce that we are parting ways with Breakfast Bagels & Breakfast Wraps.
Despite speculation and following a trial separation period, Breakfast Bagels & Breakfast Wraps will not be returning to the menu. Although we love each other very much, our deep affection for McMuffin is simply too strong to ignore.
“We want our customers to understand that this is mutually decided, in the same way that a bagel may make its own decisions.
“Thanks to all who have supported our union. Rumours that a new breakfast bae will appear in this year’s menu are unfounded. It’s time to tell you, “That’s a wrap.” Bagel. You can also get a McMuffin for 99p.
McDonald’s was furious about the news and one user tweeted: “I’ve been craving a bagel the last two years, but now I can’t satisfy it.”
One said, “Whaaaat!” It’s been 2 years since I got my breakfast wrap back. It’s my only breakfast option.
A third person tweeted, “The only thing we had for breakfast in our house was wraps and bagels.”
“I haven’t had maccies since the outbreak of the pandemic, and it looks like this was the last time I will have one.” The muffins are horrible and flatbreads worse.
Another tweeted: ‘Monday, First you took the big breakfast (we noticed) now you take our wraps, our bagels, I know it’s not Blue Monday it is in my heart.
It will soon be rid of all porridge. Is Breakfast a synonym for nothing? McMuffins can’t be made without other McMuffins.
