A truck driver has been charged over a multi-vehicle crash that killed a two-year-old girl on a Melbourne freeway earlier this month.
On December 6, a truck transporting grain came into collision with other vehicles along the Calder Freeway, near Diggers Rest.
Caulfield South’s toddler was in the back seat of one car when it crashed and he died on the spot.

South Melbourne’s 62-year old man was driving his Toyota Hilux when he became stuck under a grain truck. He was eventually freed by the emergency services.
The vehicle also injured four others, including a 1-year-old girl and three 35-year old men.
While the woman is still in stable condition in hospital, both her husband and daughter have been discharged.
A Toyota Hilux driver from South Melbourne aged 62 was trapped underneath the vehicle until emergency personnel freed him.

He was then taken to hospital, and has since been released.
Two other people in a different vehicle were also able to escape serious injuries.
On Wednesday, Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives charged the truck driver (a Donald man aged 42) with culpable driving that caused death.
He was granted bail and will be appearing at the Melbourne Magistrates Court, May 18.
