Even if your New Year’s celebrations are a simple kitchen party, you will need to dress up in some metallic sparkles.
Light-reflecting and mood-boosting, metallics were all over the catwalks in many guises — from shiny, sweet-wrapper joy, to a hint of glinting thread. Warehouse has embraced the ‘more is more’ philosophy, serving up two showstoppers: a glamorous gold lamé halter dress (fifth from right) and a glistening maxi with a bronze zig-zag pattern (fourth from left).
Temperley London’s 1970s inspired, purple leopard-print jumpsuit (third row from the right) also combines metallics and bold patterns. It is pure beauty.

The Gatsby, a sparkling, knitted Gatsby dress (third from the left), conjures visions of a glamorous, champagne-filled soiree.
If a dress is not your style, try separates, but don’t play it safe. You can experiment with metallic colors. For example, Anthropologie’s silver-toned tinsel vest (far left) would look great with black trousers — but it’s far more fun styled with the metallic navy midi-skirt from Ted Baker (far left) and perfect for dancefloor twirling to your favourite tunes.

Similarly, you could pair Next’s radiant blouse with something plain, but it really pops with Anthropologie’s shimmering trousers (both second from left).
You may as well fully commit to the ‘look at me’ maxim with your accessories, too. Try a silver clutch and Terry de Havilland’s gold platforms (fourth from left).
If you’re feeling inspired, there’s still time to hop to the shops for a New Year’s Eve outfit that dazzles. Make like a magpie so you can finish this year — and welcome the new one — in style.
