Charles Goodwin is a mixed martial artist fighter. A judge instructed him to expect “a prolonged period of imprisonment”.

The 21-year-old business management student was found guilty of three charges of rape and one charge of assault by penetration against one student in Manchester and one charge of raping a student in Liverpool.

He was also found guilty of the sexual assault of another student at Liverpool, but he was cleared of the sexual assault of another student also at Liverpool.

Attacking the first victim meant that he held her by the throat. He was found guilty for trying to choke her, as well as assaulting her.

Charles Goodwin (pictured), mixed martial arts fighter was called a ‘hopeless romantic’ during the trial. A judge told him to expect a ‘long period of imprisonment.

According to the court, he told her that she should be treated like a princess and so he picked her up and took her home – then proceeded to attack her at her house.

Three charges were brought against him for rape of the victim number two. He claimed he was a’sex god’ to her when she said that he had hurt them. However, he was found not guilty of only one of these charges.

Goodwin of Hilbre Street in Liverpool’s city centre, but previously of Salford, did not react when the jury delivered their unanimous verdicts following just six hours of deliberations.

However, his grandfather and father stood with him in the public gallery while the verdicts were being returned. They then shouted at the five men and seven women jurors.

His dad said, “Shame on that court. It’s disgusting.”

Goodwin’s grandfather shouted: “A young man has been completely scotched, and ruined.”

“How are you supposed to believe lies told by someone else in court?” These offences are not to be dealt with.

The 21-year-old business management student was found guilty of seven different charges in total, including rape, assault by penetration and sexually assault

A total of seven charges were brought against the 21-year old business management student, which included rape and assault by penetration.

Liverpool Crown Court heard during his 13-day trial how he went from being on police bail following the initial attack to committing the second.

Goodwin was informed by Judge David Swinnerton, “I will order a probation report to be prepared to show the severity of your offense and how it may impact the sentence.”

“Please expect a prolonged period in prison,” he said. He also remanded him into custody in anticipation of his next sentence.

His conviction was for offences committed between January 15, 2019 and September 30, 2020.

Matthew Curtis (prosecutor) had stated to the jury that the defendant didn’t care whether complainants consented. He got his way without any concern for the consequences or their immediate reactions.

Goodwin admitted to having sex with four women, but maintained that they all had consented. He also had a girlfriend at the same time.

He claimed that the 19-year-old victim had been choked and said it was consensual.

He described himself during his testimony as being a mix of “a hopeless romantic” and “Charlie big bollocks”. That is how my personality functioned.
