Moderate 5.4-magnitude earthquake shakes holiday island of Crete – the third to jolt Greece so far on Boxing Day

An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 has shook the Greek holiday island of Crete – the third to jolt Greece so far on Boxing Day.

According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), earlier, the tremor was 6.0 in magnitude.

According to the EMSC, the quake occurred 170km east from Heraklion which is the capital of Crete. 

The Geodynamic Institute stated that the earthquake occurred at a depth 6.4km (3.9 miles) on its website.

No immediate reports have been received regarding injuries or damages caused by the earthquake.
