  • On Monday, a video was shared on Twitter that showed the beheading of a mannequin
  • He can be heard shouting “Allah Akbar”, which in Arabic means God Is Great, to man
  • He has at least ten headcaps that are already severed.
  • After Taliban ordered Herat provincial shopkeepers remove their heads, this comes as a surprise
  • Models are considered idols and are therefore prohibited under strict Islamic law.
  • Initialy, shops were instructed to throw out all Mannequins.
  • However, after being accused of ruining business, Taliban decided only that heads should be allowed to rule.

The Taliban orders a shop mannequin to be executed in Afghanistan. It’s a shocking scene. You have offended the Islamic interpretation strictly followed by this group.

Twitter user @AllahAKbar posted a Monday video showing him using a hacksaw and removing the head from a mannequin. He is being chanted ‘God Is Great’ in Arabic.

You can see at least 10 heads which have been cut off lying at his feet.

Shopkeepers from the west province of Herat received instructions last week to remove the heads from their mannequins, after Islamist officials declared that the statues were idols.

Islam considers idol worship a grave sin.

This is shocking moment that a shop mannequin in Afghanistan is beheaded on the orders of the Taliban for offending the group's strict interpretation of Islam

A video shared on Twitter on Monday shows an unidentified man using a hack saw to remove the head of a mannequin as someone chants 'Allah Akbar' - which means 'God is Great' in Arabic

It is shocking to see a shop mannequin beheaded in Afghanistan by the Taliban because he criticized the Taliban’s interpretation of Islam. Twitter shared a video Monday showing an unidentified male using a hacksaw to cut off the head of a shop mannequin while someone shouts “Allah Akbar” – Arabic for “God is Great”.

The ruling was issued by the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice in Herat, which is responsible for administering the Taliban’s strict interpretation of Islam.

The ministry ordered the shops to take down the mannequins immediately, but the shopkeepers protested, saying that it would ruin any business they had left.

Following the hearing of all the complaints, Sheikh Aziz-u-Rahman (head of the ministry) ruled that the heads on the mannequins needed to be removed.

Business owners argue that hacking their models apart is still an important financial loss, even though Afghanistan’s economy seems to be in decline.

Taliban leaders in western Herat declared that mannequins must be killed to stop people “worshipping” them. (file image).

Abdul Wadood Faiz Zada stated to Repubblica, an Italian newspaper: “The heads should not be removed from the mannequins.

“Each manequin will cost $100, $80 or $70 each, so beheading them is a big financial loss.”

Mohammad Yusuf added: ‘The Taliban have not changed, there will be restrictions once again.

“They haven’t gained international recognition but, should they, they’d bring back more strict limitations.”

The Taliban has been slowly cracking down on the freedoms of Afghans since taking power this summer, including banning women from large sections of public life (file image)

Since their takeover this summer of power, the Taliban has slowly been crackingdown on Afghans’ freedoms. This includes banning women from large parts of public life.

Since recapturing Afghanistan over the  summer in a rapid advance behind the back of withdrawing American troops, the Taliban has been slowly restricting the freedoms of its population while claiming to the world that it has ‘reformed’.

For’safety,’ women and girls were taken to their houses immediately. The Taliban then proceeded to largely remove them from school and work places.

The Islamists have also prohibited women from driving long distances without the supervision of a man and required them to wear a veil when in the vehicle.

They also banned music from vehicles, and stated that intoxicating substances were prohibited.

The ruling also stated that drivers should stop at prayer time in their cars and park them in a “proper” place so prayers can be held.

Afghanistan was supported for more than two decades by aid money and western support, but it has almost collapsed ever since the Taliban took control.

While aid money has dried up, western countries have still not been able to access the country with the promised funding of billions.

UN Food Programme warns of starvation in half the country by the middle of next winter. Economic catastrophe and severe drought can lead to massive poverty.

Reports from aid agencies indicate that some families resort to desperate means to purchase food.
