Twitter users have criticized the Irish sitcom that stars Brendan O’Carroll in the role of the titular Mrs Brown. They took to Twitter to criticize the show for being ‘unfunny’, and more so than testing positive to highly infectious coronavirus variant Omicron. 

Grandad delivered a joke that didn’t work. It began with: “There was murder at the flats last evening.” One man died after being beaten with a fish.

He laughed to raucous laughter of the studio audience and said, “They think it was Jack The Kipper!”

Another voice added: “Sooner, catch Happy New Years’ Omicron than to watch Mrs Brown’s Boys!” 

Many others felt the January 1 episode had spoilt the New Year. They wrote, “Well 2022 couldn’t have gotten off to a worse start. The Mrs Brown’s Boys are on television.

Some were happy to witness the New Year special, but were not impressed by the humor.

Past Mrs Brown’s Boys have been marred with controversy. It was criticized for its backstage politics, and two actors left the show in the midst of a pay-gap dispute.

They were playing Dino and Rory, and the actor in question, Gary Hollywood and Damien McKiernan.

MailOnline heard from an insider that last year the show was run in a way that makes it difficult to work.

According to an insider, the show was very Upstairs/Downstairs with a clear division between Brendan’s family and the handful of actual actors like Gary and Damien. 

“The Mrs Brown family is a production company director and they are looked after.” Brendan can do what he likes at the BBC.
