As people wave flags and walked through the parade, the car plowed along.
This image shows a red SUV traveling at high speeds through the Christmas parade in Waukesha on Sunday evening, about 20 miles from Milwaukee.
The driver is alleged to have driven through barricades, rammed into Christmas parades, and injured 30 others, including elderly women. The driver may also have fired shots.
A background sound of screams is heard as the SUV passes. An official from the law enforcement department is seen following the SUV.
This incident occurs just days after Kyle Rittenhouse (the Kenosha shooting suspect) was cleared of all murder charges for the deaths of two Kenosha men in unrest that broke out last year following a fatal police shooting of an African-American man.
On Sunday evening, video posted to social media showed dozens of emergency vehicles arriving on the scene in downtown Waukesha.
There were many small children and families. An SUV in red came down the street and struck many people, according to Kaylee Staral who was an eyewitness.
Staral claimed that an SUV drove through the crowd between 20 and 30 seconds after the celebrations began.
Staral explained that Staral heard a lot more screaming than usual. “We believed it to be Santa but the vehicle was red and hit several people.
Staral stated that “multiple people were on the ground” moments later. Later, she clarified that the number of people present was around 30.
Staral said that police had reported gunshots being fired but that Staral could not confirm this.
It was not clear whether the driver said anything, as he was driving’very fast’ with a lot of screaming.
Staral stated that although it’s unclear whether the driver intentionally tried to kill people, Staral claimed the car was moving very quickly and was right in the middle the parade.
She stated, “It’s no way they missed that there was an event.”
