Police open murder investigation into body of 16-year-old girl found two days after disappearing at Scottish beauty spot

  • Amber Gibson, who had just left home on Friday evening to be last seen in Hamilton, was not present.
  • The body of the victim was discovered in a nearby beauty spot on Sunday morning. 
  • Police Scotland stated that they were treating the death of the teenager as murder.  










A body found at a Glasgow beauty salon that belonged to a girl aged 16 years old was discovered by police and taken into custody. Police are now investigating the case. 

Amber Gibson (16 years old) went missing in Hamilton on Friday evening after she left Hillhouse, her Hillhouse home at 9.15pm. 

She was further seen on Cadzow Street by police at 9.55pm. At 10.10am Sunday, her body was found near Cadzow Glen. 

Detective Superintendent Raymond Brown of Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Team said: ‘Our thoughts very much remain with Amber’s loved ones and we will continue to support them through this terrible time.

Police are appealing for information for anyone who may have seen Amber since she disappeared from home on Friday evening

Amber vanished from her home Friday evening, and police are asking for any information.

“While we continue our inquiries, we’re asking anyone with information or who suspects they might have seen Amber at some point between Friday and Sunday to get in touch.

“There will be an increase in police presence within the region over the next days, and anybody with concerns can talk to local officers anytime.” 

Police stated that anyone with any information could call 101, quoting incident 1281 from November 28.
