Investigators have brought a suspect to trial for murder after investigating the death of a Blackpool widower on New Year’s Day.
Police in Lancashire were dispatched to Eccleston Road at 4.35pm Saturday January 1st, in response to reports that a man was found lying in front of his doorway.
He was confirmed as dead on the spot by the emergency services. Malcolm Frary, now 76, has been named as his identity.
An examination by the Home Office has been conducted and strangulation was discovered as the cause of death.
Two men were arrested by police in connection with Mr Frary’s death.

After consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service Ian Dunne (43), of Withnell Road in Blackpool has been arrested for murder. He is due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Blackpool’s 51-year-old second man has been placed under arrest and released to continue investigations.
A former engineer, Frary had been a father of four for over 40 years according to neighbors.
It is believed that he had been living alone since the death of his wife around twenty years ago.
A woman of 67 years lived next to him and stated that he had been living down there for more than 40 years. The man was quiet and modest.
“He kept his secrets, particularly after the loss of his wife. He was a fan of his model boats.

‘When we went out to celebrate the New Year’s Day we found his door open and some activity in the nearby streets.
‘When we returned we saw the officers and Malcolm’s house was taped off.
“We thought it was a burglary. The next day, we asked Malcolm if everything was well.
“We are still shocked. It was the fact that he was living in our home and we had no idea. This was an awful way for him to die.
“This was a very family-friendly road, where all the kids played together. He was very close with one of my boys. “I just cannot wrap my mind around it.
The Lancashire Police continue to call for witnesses.
Police launched a murder probe, and two suspects have been taken into police custody.
Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area of Eccleston Road and Harris Street, as well as the Horncliffe Road and Woodstock Gardens areas of South Shore, Blackpool, on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
