The Museum of Modern Art in New York City was evacuated on Saturday afternoon amid reports of a stabbing.
Two people were attacked inside the museum by police officers at 4:45 p.m. Officials from the NYPD said that injuries to the victims weren’t life-threatening and they were taken to another hospital.
Sources tell ABC 7 that the suspect was a former employee who was wearing a dark jacket and blue sunglasses. He then attacked two museum employees. Following the attack, the suspect fled from the scene.
Two women were being transported on stretchers by witnesses at the scene. Police have not yet identified the victims.
The New York Post reports that one victim had stated, “I’m going get hazard payment,” as she was taken to an ambulance.
Police officers lined up in front of each other to investigate reports about the stabbings.

A Twitter user whose handle is Cheerleader52 claimed that her group was kept in the basement and not told about the incident.
“People were crying and screaming.” The user wrote that police told them to run as they captured the escape from the museum.
David Durjerko from Chicago said that his museum was filled with visitors seeking refuge in the snowstorm.
‘Suddenly they said ‘the museum’s closed’ and people started running,’ Durjerko said. There was little panic and they shouted, “Get out! Get out!”
MoMA officials were not available for comment immediately.
The police have not reported any arrests or other charges in relation to the stabbing.
