Letitia James (New York Attorney General) filed on Thursday a motion to impeach former President Donald Trump for not complying with an order in the civil state investigation into Trump’s real-estate empire.
James also wants a $10,000 fine for every day Trump fails to turn over documents that a judge ordered.
‘The judge’s order was crystal clear: Donald J. Trump must comply with our subpoena and turn over relevant documents to my office,’ James said in a statement.
He is attempting to avoid a court order instead of following it. We are seeking the court’s immediate intervention because no one is above the law.’
DailyMail.com obtained the Thursday court file. James’ team casts doubt on Trump’s claim that it is impossible to ‘find” the eight documents she requests. Trump agreed to give them back by March 31.
He was charged with causing more delays and confusion in returning the requested documents. His excuses were not sufficient to cover the costs of the fine.
Her office is now investigating Trump Organization because it allegedly used false or misleading information for loans and secured deals. She previously stated that this practice went on for more than a decade.
He was subpoenaed by her along with two of his adult kids, Ivanka Trump Jr. and Donald Trump Jr. in December. James was seeking to depose from all three.
They tried to stop the subpoena by alleging that James was motivated by political animus as well as other reasons. However, in February, a judge stopped the attempt and ordered James to “comply in whole” by testifying as well as producing tranches of documents New Yorkprosecutors requested in their probe.
James granted an extension for the ex-president to submit these documents before March 3, but he was not required to do so by that date.
James filed a Thursday court document accusing Trump for failing to meet the deadline.

Letitia James, Attorney General asserts Trump’s claim that he could not ‘find” the eight documents she requested are dubious according to the DailyMail.com court filing.
James attempted to grill the family under oath as recently as March 21st.
However, the appeal only addressed the testimony in person and didn’t include the documents requested.
James’s team accused Trump of raising objections in a Thursday court file. This was based on reasons such as burden, overbreadth and lack particularity.
‘Mr. Trump further asserted, subject to his objections, that he would not produce any documents responsive to OAG’s subpoena because his counsel (based on search efforts that have not been divulged) could not find any such documents,’ the filing states.
‘And because of his counsel’s “information and belief” that if any such documents exist, the Trump Organization has them and OAG will just have to wait until the Trump Organization completes its production to get them.’
James claimed that Trump treated the deadline for March 31 documents as an “opening bid for negotiation” and an invitation to a new set of challenges in her subpoena.
