A newlywed pharmacy worker was found dead in her bathroom at a Fiji luxury honeymoon villa. The victim’s body was too badly damaged to allow for embalming and she had to be cremated before her family could return to the United States. 

Christe Chen (36-year-old Memphis) was discovered dead at Turtle Island Resort, $3,500 per-night. Bradley Robert Dawson (38), her husband whom she had married in February, was also found dead at Turtle Island Resort on July 9. 

After a three-month-long romance, the couple got married in February. Her parents also paid for their honeymoon.  

DailyMail.com revealed that Chen was found bloodied on the bathroom floor of the couple’s luxury bungalow. A post-mortem report revealed that Chen suffered several traumatic injuries to her bodies and blunt force trauma in the head. 

In anticipation of his bail hearing, Dawson arrived at Lautoka High Court Tuesday night (ET) clutching a small suitcase. But, the new date has been set for August 18. Chen’s accidental death has been maintained by he.

Ronald Gordon, the lawyer for Chen and her family, stated to DailyMail.com, that they would take civil action against Dawson, provided he’s not found criminally responsible for Chen’s death, and not rule out legal action against Turtle Island Resort. He said that he also opposed any bail applications. 

He said that Christe’s family would follow proceedings in order to make sure justice for Christe is done, given her horrific injuries. 

‘The deceased was unable to be taken back to her home because of the nature of her injuries … so she had to be cremated here in Fiji and her ashes were taken back.

On Tuesday night (ET), Dawson was accompanied by a small, blue suitcase. He also had a mask covering his face.

Gordon said Chen had suffered serious injuries to her body.

Chen’s family was informed of Chen’s death by the State Department after they called her at night. He added that this happened two or three days after Chen was murdered.

The couple arrived in Fiji July 13th. He stated that the pair thought it was a prank phone. He also suggested that Chen and Dawson might have argued.  

“She is her only child and her parents are devastated. She wants to make sure that she is treated fairly at all costs.”

He said Chen was Dawson’s second-wife and stated that he had been to Fiji twice before with his first wife.

Dawson told a local man the story of how he had somehow fled Turtle Island at night, after getting into an argument with his wife.

Gordon stated to DailyMail.com, that officers told his family by police that Dawson left his phone and GPS at the hotel. 

Dawson, who was found dead on Turtle Island’s shores the next day after an argument with his wife had led to him telling a local guy that he’d been leaving Turtle Island at midnight in a kayak.

Iqbal Khan Dawson, Dawson’s attorney, stated last week that his client was too upset to speak for several days following Chen’s death.

Although Bradley is now in a stable condition, he was very distressed at the time. Although he was already in an extremely difficult situation last week, he is improving now. You shouldn’t let this happen during your honeymoon.

DailyMail.com received a report from a local saying that the couple argued on Dawson’s funeral day.

According to resort personnel, the incident involved a couple who was discussing a private matter. Fijian police did not comment.

TURTLE ISLAND RESORT SITS ON A PRIVATE ISLAND AND PROMISES GUESTS PRIVACY 

Turtle Bay is located on Nanuya Levu Island and can be booked for $3,500-$5,000 per night, according to DailyMail.com.

The high-end all-inclusive resort has a minimum five-night stay and the only guests accepted are couples or doubles, according to Trip Savvy. 

A minimum of one couple can stay here on a weekly basis. A maximum of 14 couples may stay on the island simultaneously. 

According to the website, children can be accepted but they are not allowed during Turtle Island Family Time.

After arriving in Fiji, guests board a small boat to take a flight to Turtle Beach. 

One hundred-hectare island with 14 villas and beautiful oceanfront views is located on the edge of the bay. Twelve private beaches make it a popular tourist attraction.

Every guest is assigned a personal butler. The “bure mama” is known for organizing picnics and meals, private massages, personal trips, horseback riding, dives, sunset cruises, and horseback riding.

The culture is also offered to guests through meke, loveo, and kava rituals.

Some hosts accompany guests on various off-site excursions giving couples the ability to immerse themselves in island life and indulge in breathtaking panoramas.

The resort’s website states that the room interiors have vaulted ceilings made of palms, and then tied with coconut cordage (known as magimagi).

These spacious rooms feature rich mahogany and handmade furnishings. Fijian art and treasures are also featured. Guests will feel like they’re in a tropical paradise.

The resort was reopened on December 20, 2021 after it had been closed for the past two years because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Trip Advisor’s 2020 Traveler’s Choice Awards and Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards 2020 have named the resort as one the most desired destinations.

DailyMail.com found out last week that Chen and Dawson were not present for breakfast on the morning Chen was discovered dead. After the couple had been found dead, their personal butler went to the bungalow and put a sign stating that they would not be disturbed. The couple failed to show up for lunch and their personal butler went to their bungalow to find a ‘do not disturb sign. 

Chen was found bloody on the floor of the bathroom by the butler, also known as a House Papa. 

DailyMail.com received information from sources saying that the 50 year-old had been cleaning the rooms of the bungalow since before the bloodstains were discovered on the bathroom walls. Chen was beaten to death when he returned to his home to look for him. 

He then alerted hotel management who called the Fiji Police Force in the nearby city of Lautoka, just under an hour from Nadi International Airport. 

A source said that officers found Chen’s body and also sent a team searching for Dawson. However, Dawson was not located.

Local man discovered him around Matacawalevu Island about 1.2 mi from Turtle Island.

Manoa Ratulele (49) said that Dawson had told him that he paddled a kayak from the island to get to it between 2am-3am Saturday morning, after he lost a battle with Chen. 

Ratulele stated, “But he landed at a remote beach and I don’t know what his next move was,” 

DailyMail.com was told by Ratulele that Dawson had suffered from bruises on his feet and palms from the impact of falling onto coral. Ratulele also offered water to Dawson, who was described as ‘appeared disturbed. 

“He refused food and water at first, and then he insisted that he was okay. But, after I insist that he drink water, he stated that he needed to be called the police. Ratulele added that Dawson had been drinking. 

He didn’t reveal that he had killed his spouse, but I still could smell alcohol. He kept repeating that “we had a battle” and didn’t offer any end or beginning to the story.

Three police officers quickly arrived on Matacawalevu Island, to bring Dawson back to Turtle Island. Lautoka is on Fiji’s main Island Viti Levu. Dawson then was taken to Turtle Island. Lautoka was arrested for murder. 

Turtle Island Resort officials confirmed the incident to DailyMail.com by stating that an “incident” occurred on July 9, between a couple. This has led to a tragedy and the filing of charges. 

“We have left the island after cooperating fully with police, who did a thorough investigation.

“Out of respect for the people impacted, and because it’s an open legal issue, we can not make any comment at this point. The event has deeply affected us and we send our condolences to the Chen family and her friends.

Before their ill-fated honeymoon, Chen and Dawson shared a new  $250,000 home on Elzey Avenue, in the Cooper-Young neighborhood of Memphis. 

Chen was employed at Kroger as a pharmacist while Dawson worked for Youth Villages as an IT professional. Youth Villages is a charity that helps children. Before moving to Tennessee, she worked in Colorado as a baker before settling down to study pharmacy.

Dawson was employed by a nonprofit that said Dawson has been suspended in the awaiting more information.

Rena Schomburg, a friend of Chen, said that Chen was an unmarried child. She used to go on expensive trips with her mother, and would post photos to social networks.

She described her friend’s personality as being’super-sweet and kind’, would do any thing for anyone, outgoing, generous, fun, and very caring.

Schomburg said she never met Dawson, but suggested that Chen might have met him through marathon running. 

Schomburg stated that she didn’t have any bad bones in her body.

Matt Koenig, a friend of hers, said that he was stunned by the murder. 

He said that Christe was kind, caring, funny and generous. “It is a difficult day.

Before traveling to Fiji, Chen eerily told a neighbor how excited she was to be spending her honeymoon in paradise.
