One man was killed and others injured when a bridge fell in Lancashire. The vehicle that carried 11 people plunged into a river.

After receiving a report about a farm accident, police were dispatched to Moor Lane in Roeburndale at 4.25pm.

According to reports, a Polaris Ranger truck pulling a trailer fell into the river after a bridge collapsed.

The incident occurred when eleven people were riding in the Ranger Vehicle and Trailer.

A man was taken to the hospital with fatal injuries. He died on the spot.

Another man sustained a severe head injury. He was transported to Royal Preston Hospital.

The third victim sustained serious back injuries and was admitted to Royal Lancaster Infirmary. Other injured people were taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Police, emergency crews including ambulance, fire, and rescue personnel were on the scene.

Road closures continue to be in place.

The incident has now been investigated and the Health and Safety Executive was informed.

According to Det. Insp Kirsty Wiatt of Lancashire Police: “My thoughts and prayers are with the victims in this very tragic incident.”

“One man died tragically and many others have sustained serious injuries.

“At this point, we think the vehicle was pulling the caravan, which contained a few people when the bridge collapsed. The trailer and vehicle were then abandoned with the people in it.

“Our investigation is in its early stages, and inquiries are ongoing to determine what actually happened.”
