TALK OF The TOWN: This party has no identity crisis! To avoid offending guests with its colourful wristbands, the Oxford Glitterball handed out non-pronoun-related wristbands.










I have a brand new idea: A ball in which pronoun wristbands can be handed to guests so they can call one another by their preferred title. 

Before Glitterball, branded as Oxford’s only LGBTQ+ ball, was held at the Town Hall on Friday, a social media post said: ‘We will be providing paper wristbands with pronouns on them.

Pronoun wristbands were handed out to help guests call each other by their preferred title

For guests to call one another by their preferred title, they were provided with wristbands that could be used as pronoun wristbands

‘You can take as many as you identify with, and we hope it can ensure that everyone is gendered correctly without having to go out of their way to correct people.’

I have to say that pronouns are the last thing on my mind when I’m clubbing.

I thought the most common phrases used are: ‘Do YOU want a drink?’ or ‘Would YOU like to dance?’
