The terrifying moment when a paraglider collides with a high voltage power line.
The footage was shot in Niteroi’s Charitas neighborhood on November 18. It shows an inexperienced paraglider lose control of his glider and falling to the ground between blocks.
When Jose A. de Lacerda paraglider, a Rio de Janeiro Military Police sergeant hit the power line with loud bangs, it can be heard making a lot of noises.
However, he survived with severe spinal injuries.
According to Metropoles news, Mr de Lacerda planned to land on Charitas Beach in his departing route from Niteroi. But he was unable to make it.
As Mr de Lacerda loses control of his paraglider, he is shown in the footage soaring across the sky.
The parachute is quickly dropped and he hits the power line with speed.
As he presses down on the ground, a loud rattle is heard. He then cries out in pain.

He will be arriving at Charitas beach in a couple of minutes by walking along the road.
The filmer zooms in on people who are helping him.
He can be seen moving his arms and legs, however, he sustained serious spinal injuries.

Firefighters took Mr de Lacerda to Hospital Estadual Azevedo Lima after residents raced to help him when he cried out for pain.

Although he was able to move his arms and legs around the ground, he sustained severe spinal injuries. He is currently in stable condition at the hospital.

Mr de Lacerda was taken by the fire department to Hospital Estadual Azevedo Lima for treatment.
Correio Brazilienze Brazil reported that the soldier is in stable condition and has been updated by military police.
Dalton Machado was president of Clube Oceanico de Voo Livre paragliding club. He said that he was fortunate to have survived the accident.
Machado claimed that Mr de Lacerda shouldn’t have been alone on the jump because he was not experienced.
He stated that Parque de Cidade has a ramp public which allows people to fly.
