You can expect drunken dancing and inappropriate clothing at weddings. But some people have gone so rude that they almost ruin the event.

A mother-in law who is a bit obsessed with attention announced her engagement at the rehearsal dinner. She then arrived to the wedding wearing a “winter-white mini micro skirt”.

Another bride recounted how an aunt brought a piñata to a wedding so that the groom would have ‘something to pop’ because his new wife was not a virgin.

One mother-in law’s story stood out among the many horror wedding stories posted on the thread.  

“In lieu of toasting the guests at the rehearsal dinner,” my mother-in law announced to me that her daughter was going to be married next Wednesday. “She wore her winter-white micromini skirt wedding suit to ceremony,” the bride explained. 

The groom’s best friend from childhood and his girlfriend were high on drugs at the same ceremony. His mother consumed more than half the cake of her son.  

One bride shared the story of how their officiant was late and brought her adult child. She then ate all the bacon-wrapped scallops.

“My husband was/is really bummed. We had really delicious cake with three flavors, and he didn’t get even a piece of the cake that he selected,” she stated. 

Another example of thunder-stealing family was the father, who gave his speech at his daughter’s marriage all about him. 

The bride remembered that her attention-seeking father cut short my sister’s speech and took over the microphone to deliver his speech prior to the best man. 

People shared all kinds of horror stories, from attention-seeking mother-in-law to disapproving aunt

Many people shared horror stories about everything from disapproving aunts to attention-seeking mothers-in-law. 

“One point in his speech was about the way he had to give the first speech. The other point she made was about how husband and wife didn’t really know one another for so long (about 15 months). It also implied that we had been rushing. 

She said that she was hurt and embarrassed, but made an effort to forget all about it. [she]He didn’t have to ruin our wedding. 

Meanwhile, a guest recalled how a judgmental aunt brought a piñata in the shape of a woman to her sister’s wedding so ‘the groom could have something to “pop” that night since [the bride] wasn’t a virgin.

She said that she and her cousin took care and the cake never reached reception. 

One bride's officiant was an hour late and told the couple they were going to hell when they asked for a refund.

The officiant for one bride was late by an hour and said that the couple would go to hell if they didn’t get a refund. 

A nephew was also criticized for offering teens money to interrupt his brother’s marriage. 

“When I turned 16 years old, I sat with my uncle at his wedding. I refused to accept his offer of more money. I didn’t do it, but at 16, $500 to make a fool of yourself at a wedding is very tempting,’ one person recalled.  

‘My mom and dad walked from table to table and “quietly” told everyone that they were separating,’ said another.  

A relative also received criticism for a memorable speech on childbirth. 

“At our wedding, we’re long divorcing,” my mother-in law gave a speech about the journey down the birth canal of my husband. My friends and relatives still speak about it, even after more than 10 years.

Couples had to contend with their college friends calling the wedding boring, even if it wasn’t grandmothers walking out of ceremony or uncles giving money to teenagers to object. 

“My grandmother left halfway through my vows. We haven’t spoken since then, so I don’t know the reason. Then she said it to me aunt, “Right, my aunt has had enough”, and then went off to sit in my aunt’s car. 

“My uncle was driving home the old hag,” they said. 

It wasn’t their relatives who were causing havoc at the weddings of the couple, but it was their unruly friends.

“Groomsman declared his love for the bride days before the wedding, and then died of heat exhaustion at italics,” one claimed. 

“One of my college buddies showed up late and called my wedding boring.” Another said.
