Boris Johnson had invited me to lunch at a local political meeting years before I set out to go. He said to his assistants, “I will not eat with that woman bloody.”

It was no surprise to me, as I have been his most ardent critics for a while. I’m not a fan, and I never was, of our Prime Minister. It’s clear that he is not a fan of mine.

You may think that I would be the last person to stand in his defense. But I can.

True, he is flawed and inept. It would be insane and hypocritical for us to oust Margaret Thatcher’s greatest Tories election winner on grounds that he was at an outdoor party.

It is unacceptable for me to condone rule-breaking. Many people broke the rules in Britain every week, and many were locked down. On May 2020 (the month that Downing Street took place), hundreds of people gathered in Brighton.

Some years ago Boris Johnson 'disinvited' me to a political lunch just as I was about to set off. He told his aides: 'I will not break bread with that bloody woman.' I wasn't surprised because I have long been one of his fiercest critics, writes Amanda Platell

Many held parties in Hampstead Heath, near my home, and at other parks.

One neighbour of mine bought her married lover a builder’s belt so he could visit her three times a week to ‘fix her boiler’ — emergency workmen were allowed under Covid rules.

Another woman had her hairdresser bring a mop so he would pretend that he was her cleaner.

Were we able to say how many times that we’ve never snuck in a relative or friend, or shared a glass of wine with our neighbors back in the backyard?

We didn’t see people because we couldn’t burst our bubble, just to keep our sanity.

I do not condone rule-breaking. But countless people throughout Britain broke them regularly in lockdown. In May 2020, the month the Downing Street party took place, hundreds gathered on Brighton beach (file image)

It is my deepest sympathy to all who lose loved ones or those who are unable to visit their graves in care homes and hospitals.

However, I am not the only one frustrated by endless BBC interviews in which people express their anger at the PM’s violations of the rules and claim that they have done everything according to the law. While I am sure that most did, we also know many didn’t.

We should not judge the PM based on how many parties he attended, but rather by his accomplishments. It is the Western World’s fastest-growing vaccination program.

Europe has the highest rate of economic growth. We need more jobs, and we all need to be safe.

Johnson may call me a bloody woman, but I’m his judge.

What a sad day for Emma Raducanu, ‘our Emma’ who was eliminated from the Australian Open second round. Was it the blister on her hand — or the weight of the £40,000 worth of Tiffany jewellery she was wearing?

Our ‘modest’ big day

Brooklyn Beckham’s fiancée Nicola Peltz has chosen a hand-made fairytale Valentino creation for her wedding dress instead of one from her future mother-in-law’s range.

Vogue has purchased the rights to their wedding photos. As David and Victoria did.

The couple wants the wedding to be modest and celebrate their love.

So why choose the £76 million ocean-front Florida holiday home belonging to Nicola’s billionaire daddy as the venue?

The royal teddy boy

His former staff revealed that Prince Andrew sleeps with five Teddy Bears, in spite of Virginia Giuffre’s civil lawsuit against him.

So he had a maid run four flights up to his bedroom to open the curtains. Fergie’s wedding gown was kept in his wardrobe.

You can call me a cynic but does he have a defense on grounds of insaneity?

Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey said six years ago that when her fiancé died, she didn’t know what to say.

Michelle portrays Lady Mary Crawley, the husband of Michelle. Too much tragedy. She is now engaged in real life.

It’s a happy ending!

Raymond Blanc, Michelin-starred Chef, mocks Brits for their fondness of white sliced bread.

His claim is that bacon bits would be twice as delicious if made from artisan sourdough. It’s a good thing we are leaving the EU and French snobs with their fancy ideas behind.

There is no way I could cancel my TV license, because Ted (my David Attenborough-loving dog) would not forgive me. He loves the BBC’s beautiful nature shows.

No chance of me cancelling my TV licence, as my David Attenborough-loving moggie Ted would never forgive me

Jay Blades, Repair Shop host, says that he was 51 when he received a letter informing him about his MBE. He can now read to his children stories. This man is adorable!

Holly is a shining example of Holly’s suffering

Holly Willoughby, The Morning’s Holly Willoughby uses’singing stones’ to treat anxiety. She also mixes them in glass bowls for meditation.

The picture was taken while she was wearing a “More Joy” T-shirt.

Do you think this is proof that the T-shirt’s positivest are the most miserable?

For a woman who says she’s terrified of singing live, it was odd that Adele ever signed up for a £12 million Las Vegas residency of 24 shows.

Now, less than 24 hours before her scheduled opening concert, she cancels her show, crying out over an epidemic of Covid in her group.

Is it possible for a woman to have ate more of her weight loss than she can handle?

Harry and Meghan won’t be able to attend Prince Philip’s funeral service in April. The couple refuses to travel to Britain without Met Police protection.

Do they need to be protected from some rotten tomatoes, despite their popularity?

It's unlikely Harry and Meghan will make it to Prince Philip's memorial service in April as they refuse to travel to the UK without Met Police protection, which has been denied

Helen Mott was not paying attention when her car stopped working. She was alone in the darkness, afraid for her safety, and was told by the American Automobile Association that she wasn’t a priority because ‘that’s equal’.

My ruse that I am a single, disabled transgender mother of mixed-race heritage and have three children in my car should have been used by her.

You’d see them in no time.

Not a real dead ringer for love

Meat Loaf, the singer most well-known for Bat Out Of Hell has passed away at the age of 74.

Yet, for troubled singletons, the words of Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad still resonate with them: ‘I need you, and I want you. But there ain’t no way that I’m ever gonna be able to love you.

Perhaps Bumble, Tinder and other dating websites should post that on their apps — it could prevent a date out of hell.

 Westminster Wars

  • The plot of the Red Wall MPs to overthrow President Obama was so apt, it was nicknamed the Pork Pie Plot. Pork pies, which are fat-saturated and overrated with minced pork, pig fat, and trotter jelly, come wrapped in pastry of dripping, or lard. They’re a heart attack-inducing plate. Boris almost got one.
  • Dehenna Davieson, the Tory MP who is accused of “madly whipping up” the Red Wallers was once best friends with Carrie Johnson. Allegra Stratton was forced to quit her position as No. 10’s press secretary. She was Carrie Johnson’s confidante. And it was Mrs J who spent £100,000 redecorating the Downing Street flat. Imagine how much easier it would have been had Boris stayed with Marina.
