Megan Barnard from Nottinghamshire Police stated that officers sometimes forget to address an incident and move on to the next. However, sometimes, it’s necessary to do so because we need to cope with all the details.

“But this case really stuck with many officers, especially me after hearing his heartbreaking tale.

“With Christmas coming up, knowing the hardships that holidays can cause for many people after experiencing something similar to this, we decided it was time to help raise funds to ensure that our son had something to celebrate Christmas Day.

“It was amazing to see the officers come together and raise all that money for him so he could smile and get gifts for him.

“I was moved by the incredible response that we received from the members of the police family, from the department and the team as well as other departments who were not directly connected to the young man but felt affected by his story.

“We want him to see that the things he has seen and experienced in his life so far don’t define him as a person. He can conquer them all with the help of the people around him.

“Being a policeman is more than just arresting criminals. It’s also about being able to help anyone in need.

“It is so lovely to see him succeed in his new place and be taken care of.

“This is an exceptional case and will remain with many officers for quite some time. It’s incredible to see everyone coming together to support him during Christmas.

David Mellen (City Council Leader), said that this is an inspiring story about how Christmas spirit is alive in a world where people help others who are less fortunate than they themselves.

“Our amazing foster family shows this extraordinary compassion every day by welcoming young children into their homes.

“A child will now be happy to spend Christmas in the company of loving parents and police officers.”
