A cannabis farm was discovered by police next to the station.

The farm – with 1,022 plants – was discovered in a former magistrates’ court next to Runcorn Police Station in Cheshire.

In 2017, it was closed in an expensive cost cutting exercise that saw half of the 320 magistrates courts in England and Wales close their doors. The backlog has increased to 364,122.

Steve Reed, shadow justice secretary said it is hard to believe. Because of the huge case backlog, criminals get away with their crimes. Yet, a Conservative court is being used for cannabis cultivation.

An investigation into the Runcorn discovery has led to the indictment of a twenty-year-old.
