Maxwell could be sentenced to 80 years in prison if she is found guilty on six counts of sex trafficking. Her lawyers will launch Maxwell’s defense case in New York.
According to the allegations, she was accused of procuring girls and women for Jeffrey Epstein, a billionaire paedophile. Elle vehemently denied the allegations.
After Annie Farmer testified, the prosecution ended its case Friday. She said that Maxwell had fondled her and physically abused her when she was 14.
Christian Everdell was a Maxwell lawyer and asked for the court’s permission to release some defense witnesses’ real names. He said: “People who testify could get a lot unwanted attention, particularly if they’re testifying on behalf Ms Maxwell.”
Judge Alison Nathan indicated that she would review the request.
Maxwell faces an 80 year sentence for six charges of sex traficking. She will be defending herself in New York when her attorneys launch the case
Annie Farmer, who was among the four women accused in GhislaineMaxwell’s case for sex trafficking took the witness stand on Friday. Farmer (who is the only accused in this case who testifies under her real name) described the time she met the pedophile in New York as a teenager in 1996. She related how Epstein introduced her to Santa Fe ranch, New Mexico. There she met Maxwell.
Maxwell had several bail hearings during which Maxwell’s family and friends wrote anonymously to court asking for her bail. They also vouched for Maxwell’s good character.
According to a lawyer involved in the case, “People have lost their lives by linking their names with Ghislaine’s.”
“She supports any action to defend those who are willing to speak for her.” While she believes that she is innocent, she will prove it. However, her concern is for the safety of others and their reputations.
It is possible that the defense will last for two to three days. This could mean the case goes to the jury in December. Maxwell’s attorneys fear that jurors will rush to render a verdict in this instance.
Maxwell’s defense is still unknown. Sources say that Ghislaine was willing to testify. She will fight for her own life before the jury.
