Today, the Prince of Wales received Queen Letizia from Spain with an extremely gallant greeting during a rare public engagement in County Durham.
Prince Charles 73, was snapped in a jovial mood as he greeted the Spanish royal, 49, with a kiss on the cheek and a squeeze of the hand at Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland this morning.
Mother-of-two and Prince Philip’s friend, the mother-of-2, wore a raspberry gown, black jacket, and a black coat to protect her from the cold spring temperatures.
Meanwhile Charles donned a light grey suit for the outing, which he paired with a burgundy tie and matching pocket square.
The pair are set to open the exhibition ‘Zurbarán: the twelve tribes of Israel: Jacob and his sons’ at the Spanish Gallery of the castle during the visit.

When he met up with Queen Letizia and Spain to make a rare public appearance in County Durham earlier today, The Prince of Wales gave a very friendly show.

The pair had a brief meeting in County Durham earlier this morning, and the Spanish royal was seen holding his hand.


As they arrived for the engagement, the mother-of-2 and Prince of Wales shared a kiss on each cheek.

After the couple had greeted each other at Auckland Castle today, the Prince Of Wales was seen to touch Queen Letizia’s hand.

Prince Charles and Queen Letizia have met on several occasions. In 2017, he also hosted a Clarence House meeting with them, as well as King Felipe.
The Queen of Spain was joined by Prince of Wales to celebrate the 2019 opening of a National Gallery exhibit of work of Spanish impressionists. This event was celebrated as an act of European unity.
The Prince of Wales is a Patron of the National Gallery and they both previewed the new exhibition by the late Spanish impressionist, Joaquín Sorolla y Bastida.

After their visit to The Spanish Art Gallery, Bishop Aukland, Queen Letizia received a warm welcome from a number of children who waved Spanish flags.

The couple was in good spirits as they met members of the public at the North East Outing earlier today.


To celebrate the occasion, the monarch had her hair pulled back and wore a half-up style.

As the Prince of Wales visited the Gallery in County Durham, the Queen was beaming as she joined him.
The Prince and Queen Letizia spoke openly during the one-hour visit. They were then shown many works by Sorolla. Sorolla was described as the master of light in an evening at London’s gallery.
The Spanish monarch attended the memorial service for Prince Philip last week. It is not known if she had spoken with Prince Charles at the time.
Charles, who was in good spirits earlier in the day as he talked to farmers during a Darlington visit to open an auction marst, seemed to be in high spirits.
Charles seemed relaxed while he laughed and joked with the farmers at the charming cafe. Enjoying tea and cake in Dot’s Cafe of County Durham, Charles sat with several people.

Queen Letizia waved at crowds when she arrived at the gallery this morning, and was joined today by Prince Charles.


Today, the Queen was inspired by Prince Philip’s service and was happy to greet locals.

This mother-of-2 sported a sophisticated raspberry red dress with matching accessories for her outing.
