The birthday of Princess Charlene is yet another landmark without her family. She missed Christmas and her twins’ births last month.
In November, after a 10-month absence in South Africa and a return to Monaco for her Olympic swimming competitions, she was admitted to an unnamed facility.
Albert is unsure of the cause, but he said Charlene was suffering from emotional and physical exhaustion. It was revealed last month that she remains’months away from’ a complete recovery.
Albert brought their children with him to see their mom over Christmas, although it is unknown if the family will make a visit to her today.

Her charity, Princess Charlene Foundation originally uploaded the video. The footage includes photos of Albert, the twins, and Charlene with royals such as the Obamas and Prince Harry.
A staff member of Princess Charlene’s charity wrote a warm message to Princess Charlene alongside the personal video.
We are proud to acknowledge your tireless efforts to save and change lives.
“We believe this video captures your entire journey and reminds you how much you are loved.”
Charlene reposted her video using a single red heart. Charlene is the birthday girl of Monaco Palace Instagram.

In November, Charlene was admitted to a treatment facility in an undisclosed location within days of her return to Monaco following a 10-month absence in her native South Africa.
Her husband said she’s suffering from “exhaustion both emotional and physically”. Page Six was told by friends that the mother of two almost died in Cape Town while on vacation.
A palace statement released on December 23 revealed Albert and the couple’s children were planning to visit Charlene during the Christmas holidays, as well as asking for the family’s privacy to be respected.
The statement said that Princess Diana is undergoing a satisfactory recovery, but it could take some time before she has fully recovered.
Prince Albert met Princess Charlene in 2000 at a Monaco swimming competition. The pair got married in 2011 and then welcomed twins Gabriella & Jacques in 2014.
After almost a year spent in South Africa, Charlene was back in the United States with her husband and their twins Jacques & Gabriella.
It was during a solo charity visit to India that she developed a severe sinus infection. She couldn’t travel because of it. After the initial sinus infection, she needed to have surgery. She was unable to return to Monaco.
Charlene did not return to public duty for the first few weeks after she arrived.
Albert later revealed the family reunion had gone ‘pretty well’ in the first few hours, but it then became ‘pretty evident’ that Charlene was ‘unwell.’
According to him, the ex-Olympian had’realized she needed assistance’ and added: “She couldn’t handle official duties, family or general life.
Albert stated, “I think I’m going to say that several times. However, this has absolutely nothing to do our relationship.” This is what I’m trying to say. These issues aren’t related to our relationship. They have nothing to do with the marriage between husband and wife. They are of a different nature.
He then told a magazine that her current condition was due to’several private factors’.
Albert said, “She wasn’t sleeping well for a few days and wasn’t eating well.” Her weight loss made her more vulnerable to potential illnesses. She could get the flu, a cold, or God forbid COVID.
He said it is ‘not cancer-related or personal relationship issue’ and later said she is suffering from ‘exhaustion, both emotional and physical’.
He later confirmed Charlene has been admitted to a treatment facility for undisclosed medical issues, as she works through a period of ill health. Although the exact location has not been confirmed by multiple sources, it may be in Switzerland.
But friends of the princess suggested that there were deeper issues than Albert seemed to indicate.
Page Six spoke to a source who described the friend of the royal, saying: “It’s unfair that she’s being portrayed as having any kind of mental issue or emotion.
“We don’t know the reason why she is being downplayed by the palace that she nearly lost her life in South Africa.”
According to the source, the royal suffered from a serious ear, nose, and throat infection that led to severe sinus and swallowing problems.
Elsewhere friends of Princess Charlene gave Tatler a rare insight into what the royal is really like, insisting that the former swimmer is a force to be reckoned with.
According to one source, Charlene was not ‘naive’ or trapped in an unhappy marital relationship with Albert.
One warned that Princess Gabriella’s mother, Prince Jacques, was not the kind of person to be controlled blindly by the Monaco royal family.
‘Charlene, you are not Princess Di. One said. ‘She may come across as being extremely naïve, but nothing could be further from the truth. She’s very adept at hiding her intellect.
There are no new doubts regarding the centrality of Monaco’s royal families.
MailOnline was informed by several residents who live in narrow alleyways in Monaco Ville that Charlene spent most of her time living outside of the Palace. She lived in a small two-bedroom apartment located 300m from an abandoned chocolate factory.
One source said that she saw her often outside of the Palace, but she’d usually go alone, or with a guard, and never with Albert. It was clear she preferred to be in her apartment, not the palace.

She was born in Rhodesia, a colonized state of Southern Africa that had never been reunified by the British.

She had a successful swimming career and went on to win three gold medals and a silver medal at the 1999 All Africa Games in Johannesburg, as well as representing South Africa at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games and winning a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay in the latter competition.
But the couple’s union has garnered many attention over the years. A third paternity suit emerged in December 2020.
Charlene cut off half of her head soon after. After a few months, she fled for South Africa.
In December 2020, it was claimed Albert had conceived a love child (which would have been his third if proven), with a Brazilian woman. This happened at a time Charlene and Albert were still in a relationship.
Two other children were also born to him outside of marriage. Jazmin Grace Grimaldi is 29 years old and is the product of Albert’s affair, which was with an American estate agent and Alexandre Coste (17), whose mother is an ex-Togolese flight attendant.
In return for large financial settlements, both children were taken out of Monaco’s succession line.
