According to the palace, Princess Charlene of Monaco still has some time before she can fully recover.
After a 10-month absence from South Africa, she was returned to Monaco and the mother-of-2 was taken to a facility there.
Prince Albert, her husband, said she’s suffering from exhaustion, both physical and emotional. Page Six was told by friends that she ‘almost lost’ the two-year-old mother of two while in South Africa.
A palace statement released yesterday revealed Albert and the couple’s children were planning to visit Charlene during the Christmas holidays, as well as asking for the family’s privacy to be respected.
According to the palace, Princess Charlene of Monaco (44), is still several months away from a full recovery. She was pictured together with Prince Albert, their twins Prince Jacques & Princess Gabriela.
The mother of two was admitted at an unidentified facility last month after a 10-month absence in South Africa.
The princess is currently’recovering in a satisfactory, reassuring way’. However it might take some more months until her full health recovery.
The royal missed the seventh birthday of her twins Gabriella and Jacques earlier this month, but shared photos of the celebration on Instagram, writing: ‘Happy birthday my babies.
“Thanks God for giving me such beautiful children. Truly blessed. Mother, I love you.
Page Six spoke to a source who described the friend of the royal, saying: “It’s unfair that she’s being portrayed as having any kind of mental issue or emotion.
Princess Charlene and Prince Jacques of Monaco’s twins, seven year-olds Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques attended a traditional Christmas party without their mother.
“We don’t know the reason why she is being downplayed by the palace that she almost lost her life in South Africa.”
According to the source, the royal suffered from a serious ear, nose, and throat infection that led to severe sinus and swallowing problems.
“She’s not been able eat solid food for over six months, because of the numerous surgeries that she has had since then,” said her friend. So, she has been only able to drink water through a straw and lost about half of her body weight.
Elsewhere friends of Princess Charlene gave Tatler a rare insight into what the royal is really like, insisting that the former swimmer is a force to be reckoned with.

According to one source, Charlene was not ‘naive’ or trapped in an unhappy marital relationship with Albert.
However, one cautioned that the seven-year-old mother of Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques was not the type to be blindly controlled or guided by the Monaco royal house.
‘Charlene, you are not Princess Di. One said. ‘She may come across as being extremely naïve, but nothing could be further from the truth. It is extremely easy for her to keep her intelligence under wraps.
Prince Albert continues to appear with his twins, Jacques & Gabriella. They attended the Monaco National Day Celebrations and tree-planting event. The children displayed heartbreaking signs that read, “Miss You Mommy” and “Love you Mama”.
Their mother is missing: Prince Albert continues to appear with his twins, Jacques, and Gabriella. He held these signs up to Charlene at the Monaco National Day Celebrations on November 19.
Albert said that he has taken on more responsibility in the lives of his children as Charlene continues to struggle with her health.
After having been removed from their classrooms due to Covid, Gabriella & Jacques have started homeschooling at the palace
‘For me, it’s pretty simple – my priority is my family,’ he said in an interview this month. “Of course, state affairs should not be neglected… That is what I want everyone to understand. If I have the opportunity to spend time with my family, it is without reservation.
‘This is an extremely important time in their life – the way they grow up helps them see the world.
“And if one parent is away due to medical reasons, the other parent needs to be there. Too many of my friends and acquaintances have said to me they wish they could be there at certain ages for their children. These regrets are not something I want.
Charlene, her husband and their twins Jacques & Gabriella returned home to Monaco in the early part of this month. This was after a 10-month absence.
Charlene’s sister in law Chantell Wittstock told MailOnline that the princess might not be returning home to the palace immediately and she did not intend to return to public events. However, this comment was later changed.
Charlene left after new claims that Albert was having a third child (which, if true, would have been his third) with an unknown Brazilian woman. This happened during the same time as Charlene and Albert were in a relationship.
French media greeted photographs taken of them reuniting earlier this month with considerable scepticism.
Albert and their twins Princess Gabriella (and Prince Jacques) were waiting to meet her at Monte Carlo helipad. For the’reunion photos’, the entire family was joined inside Palace walls by a specially selected photographer.
Albert stated that the Monaco family reunion last week, after Charlene had spent six months living in South Africa for six months, went initially ‘pretty smoothly’ within the first few hours. However it became clear that Charlene was not well.
According to him, the ex-Olympian had’realized she needed assistance’ and added: “She couldn’t handle official duties, family or general life.
Albert said, “I am probably going to repeat this many times. But this does not have anything to do with our relationship.” This is what I’m trying to say. These issues are not related to our relationship. They do not relate to the marriage between husband and wife. This is a completely different type of relationship.
He continued to say that her current condition was due to’several private factors’.
Albert said, “She wasn’t sleeping well for a few days and wasn’t eating well.” This made her susceptible to various other illnesses. The flu, colds or COVID.
It is not a cancer-related issue or a personal relationship problem, he said.
He later confirmed Charlene has been admitted to a treatment facility for undisclosed medical issues, as she works through a period of ill health. Although the exact location has not been confirmed by multiple sources, it may be in Switzerland.
He also stated that rumors about the status of his marriage “don’t bother” him.
Doubts over the central relationship between Monaco’s monarchy and its royal family are nothing new.
MailOnline was informed by several residents who live in narrow alleyways in Monaco Ville that Charlene spent most of her time living outside of the Palace. She lived in a small two-bedroom apartment located 300m from an abandoned chocolate factory.
According to one source, “We frequently saw her outside of the Palace and would often see her alone or with an arm guard,” but it wasn’t with Albert. She chose to stay in the apartment over the palace because that was where she spent most of her time.
Princess Charlene met Prince Albert in 2000 during a swimming competition in Monaco and the pair married in 2011, before welcoming twins Gabriella and Jacques in 2014.
She was born in Rhodesia, a colonized state of Southern Africa that had never been reunified by the British.
She had a successful swimming career and went on to win three gold medals and a silver medal at the 1999 All Africa Games in Johannesburg, as well as representing South Africa at the 1998 and 2002 Commonwealth Games and winning a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m medley relay in the latter competition.
However, the couple has received many attention over the years. In fact, last year saw the birth of a third paternity suit.
Charlene cut her hair in the fashion of punk rockers shortly afterwards.
It was seen as the first sign that a crisis is worsening and could lead to a multimillion-pound divorce.
Charlene fled South Africa in a month following the revelation that Albert had filed another paternity suit last December.
Prince Albert announced last month that his wife, Princess Anne, had been admitted at a European facility in the days following her 10-month absence from her home country of South Africa. This October Instagram photo from South Africa shows the royal looking frail.
An anonymous Brazilian woman claimed that her 15 year-old daughter, who is not allowed to be identified because of legal reasons was born out of an affair in which she met Albert in 2004.
Although Albert and Charlene weren’t yet engaged, they were already friends for over four years. They met at a Monaco swimming gala in 2000.
The claimant’s lawyers were to request a DNA test at Milan’s court earlier in the year. His own counsel called the move a hoax.
The parties have not yet commented, suggesting that some sort of settlement could be reached. This is similar to what happened with Albert and his earlier lovers.
Jazmin Grace Grimaldi is 29 years old and is the product of Albert’s affair and Alexandre Coste is 17-years-old. Alexandre Coste is an ex-Togolese flight attendant.
They were both removed from Monaco’s succession for huge financial settlements.
