When she was preparing to celebrate her historic 70 years as Queen, she paid tribute to her deceased father.
Photographs have been released of Her Majesty, 95, looking at her Platinum Jubilee cards and memorabilia from the Golden Jubilee in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle.
The monarch chose to wear both her aquamarine & diamond clip brooches separately, which she wore in a diagonal set on her turquoise dress. In April 1944, George VI gave the jewels to her as a birthday gift.
Snaps of the queen show her beaming, as she peruses cards left by well-wishers. Then, she reaches down to touch Candy, her pet dog.
There were also a few personal photos propped up against the table. These included photographs of Kate Middleton and Prince William as well as Prince Harry and Prince Harry with their brother Prince Harry. A third photo showed Princess Beatrice, Eugenie, and Prince Harry.
She is scheduled to celebrate Accession Day with her family on February 6th during a long break at Wood Farm Cottage, Sandringham.

In April 1944, her 18th birthday gift from George VI was her aquamarine-and-diamond clip brooches. They were worn in separate settings on her turquoise gown in a diagonal setting.
Candy, a mix of a corgi/dachshund and a dog, made a tour of the room inspecting the small number of journalists who were capturing the view.
“And from where did you come?” said the Queen. Candy called Candy back and gave her an ice-cream.
She has had more than 30 corgis in her time as monarch. She currently owns three corgis: Candy, now very old, Muick the young corgi, and Fergus, the corgi pup who was unexpectedly killed last May.

A card to celebrate the 2002 Golden Jubilee was a hit with the Queen. It had eight tops of bottles (milk, Coca-Cola, Schweppes) and the handwritten words “Ma’am you’re the Tops”.
The Queen said, “That’s great, simple and ingenious,” to Dr Stella Panayotova (bibliographer, assistant keeper of royal archives), who she joined for the viewing just two weeks back.
A nine-year old boy named Chris wrote a Golden Jubilee note titled “A Recipe for a Perfect Queen” and was included in the display.
It had a list of ingredients that included 500ml of royal blood, a dab jewels and beautiful gowns’ and “a dash” of loyalty. The Queen was amused and said, “That’s quite funny, isn’t?
The Queen also displayed Platinum Jubilee cards. She praised one that featured a photo of her as an 18-year-old woman, surrounded with flowers and reading ’70 Glorious years’.
Photos and recipes of the entries for the Platinum Pudding competition were shown. It was a great way to see the work of the cooks who rose to the occasion and created a delicious dessert worthy of the Queen and all of us.
A royal assistant told Queen Elizabeth: “We have received a lot of entries for the Platinum Pudding Competition in recent weeks.” The people have shown great creativity.
After looking through all the photos, the monarch said that they were going to be ending with crowns.
A fan that was presented to Queen Victoria in honour of her Golden Jubilee, 1887, by Prince and Princess Of Wales later Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, she also examined.
It was signed in the years following Victoria’s Jubilee by several members of her immediate family, including the Princess Royal (her eldest daughter, also known as Vicky), and Princess Alix (her granddaughter, who later became the Tsarina and Prime Minister, the Marquess Salisbury).
She opened the fan, remarking how easy it might have been damaged after being signed.
She commented on the signatures and said, “Well that’s quite an interesting gathering to observe.”

The Queen’s Accession Day is February 6th, but national celebrations will be held during a four-day weekend bank holiday weekend in June. These festivities include a concert at The Palace, thanksgiving services, and an anthem on The Mall.
