Lady Sarah Chatto was the Queen’s dear niece and made an uncommon public appearance with the rest of royal family as she joined Prince Charles today in Ascot’s Royal Box.

Sarah (58), the daughter of Anthony Armstrong-Jones (1st Earl Snowdon) and Princess Margaret, was joined by Samuel, her 25 year old son, who has a promising career as a sculptor.

Despite being close to Her Majesty’s, Lady Sarah has a reputation for maintaining a low profile. She’s been seen at Ascot once in a while, but she isn’t often seen with them except for a few key events.

Sporting a cream wide-brimmed hat, the mother-of-two looked in great spirits as she took in the action on the track alongside Vice Admiral Sir Charles Anthony Johnstone-Burt, the Queen’s Master of the Household.

Her cousin Prince Charles was also seen talking with her, and it appeared that he wanted to give her a hug.

Lady Sarah wore the same pink pleated skirt that she wore in 2014 to high society races.

Lady Sarah received a handshake from her cousin, Prince Charles. Her son Samuel Chatto (25), looked on.

After Princess Margaret attended St Paul’s Cathedral’s service of thanksgiving during Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, it comes as a surprise.

Lady Sarah Chatto was born in 1964 — the last royal baby born at a palace rather than a hospital — within weeks of cousins Prince Edward, Lady Helen Windsor and James Ogilvy.

According to Sarah and her brother Sarah, the Queen is a “surrogate mom” to Sarah. She is especially close to Lady Sarah who, according to Her Majesty, reminds her of her sister.

A royal insider revealed that Sarah loves the Queen, and visits her as much as she can. She considers her the most beloved younger Royal.

They are very comfortable with each other. When they’re together, there is a lot of giggling. The two share the same senses of loyalty and fun.

An acquaintance stated that Sarah is shy, almost embarrassed and very self-conscious. She has no grandiosity. Take royal events — she’ll be on the balcony, but she never pushes herself to the middle or the front, like some.’

The British royal family once again turned out in force at Royal Ascot today – with Prince Charles and Camilla leading the carriage procession for the second day of the glamorous event.

Because of her mobility problems, Her Majesty (96) missed today’s event. Except for 2020, when it was closed to the public in 2019, The Queen is present at all Royal Meetings since 1952.

Instead, the Prince of Wales, 73, and Duchess of Cornwall, 74, were in attendance alongside a host of other royals – including Princess Anne, 71, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, and Princess Beatrice, 33, who was joined by her husband Edoardo Mapelli-Mozzi, 38.

The Queen’s daughter-in-law, Sophie, cut an elegant figure in a blue lace dress from Suzannah, while Beatrice opted for a sophisticated white frock with a matching hat, featuring a navy brim. Camilla looked radiant in a white outfit.

One week ago, members of royal family returned to the racescourse in good spirits. Many took part in the carriage procession and then greeted one another in the warmth that was the summer.

Tracy Rose and Russell Rose have been frequents at Royal Ascot since the 1960s. They said that it was a shame that the Queen didn’t attend the races, but felt the same way.

Mr Rose said: ‘She’s an elderly lady and is conserving her energy and seems to be conscious about what she does. If she is able, I would not be surprised to see them make an appearance this week. Everybody would love to see her here.’
