Grant, who had been visiting his 90-year-old mother in southern Africa when the Government enforced new travel restrictions to fight the Omicron variant, previously complained about the ‘grim food’ at the Gatwick Holiday Inn.

Dr. Tim Spector stated that early evidence suggests the coronavirus mutation is doubling in incidence every day. This would put it ahead of some 11 countries, where travel to the UK requires them to quarantine.
Early data suggests Omicron is more transmissible – although milder – than the Delta variant, which is currently dominant in the UK.
Within the next two week, the Prime Minister will provide an update as to whether additional restrictions need to be implemented.
