The school that fired JK Rowling in exchange for Kelly Holmes (an Olympic champion who has caused controversy over trans-issues) is ridiculed

  • Boswells School changed JK Rowling’s house name to honor Olympian Kelly Holmes
  • Staff and students complained that she used the term “people who menstruate” to mock them.
  • Now, it has been revealed that Dame Kelly had tackled the same issue in 2012

An academy that ‘cancelled’ JK Rowling as a house name because of her comments on trans issues was ridiculed yesterday after it emerged her high-profile replacement has also spoken out on the subject.

After students and staff complained about Kelly Holmes mocking the use ‘people who don’t menstruate’, the Boswells School of Chelmsford, Essex swapped her for Dame Kelly Holmes, the Harry Potter author.

It is now clear that Dame Kelly, a double gold medallist, addressed a similar problem two years back when she raised concerns about transgender athletes participating in sporting events.

The Boswells School in Chelmsford, Essex, ditched the Harry Potter author for Olympic hero Dame Kelly Holmes

Chelmsford’s Boswells School, Essex, has renamed Harry Potter author Dame Kelly Holmes to be its Olympic hero.

Yesterday’s former middle-distance runner seemed to be showing solidarity for her rival by calling her “brilliant, internationally-renowned author”

She posted a tweet in April 2019, during South African Athletics Championships. It stated that ‘have an trans category, if necessary, but even better, a trans game’ to avoid any ‘backlash or abuse…from spectators.

Boswells School came under fire online for switching role models.

Another stated, “Cancel Culture at its best.” We see again women’s rights being violated.

Kelly, 51 years old, stated last night that she is always honored by schools naming houses after her. I want my name to represent determination, strength through adversity as well as a never-give up attitude.

However, she said that JK Rowling was a world-renowned, brilliant author who should be recognized for the many good things she did in literature to inspire young people, especially in their visions, creativity, and dreams.

The academy 'cancelled' JK Rowling as house name after staff and students complained about her mocking the use of 'people who menstruate' instead of 'women'

After staff and students complained that JK Rowling was mocking women who have their periods, the academy “cancelled” JK Rowling’s house name.

The Boswells School was lambasted online over the switch in role models, with one person commenting: 'Seems like a weird decision given that Holmes has publicly stated the same views previously anyway'

Online, the Boswells School was criticized for changing role models. One commentator said that it seemed odd considering Holmes had previously publicly expressed the same opinions.

It’s nice to have more people in a school that encourages students to do what they love.

When Miss Rowling (56) was adopted by the secondary school as its figurehead for one of six of its houses, she was called a “much-loved” author.

After she got involved in the trans debate, it made plans to get rid of her.

After staff selected a few names, the school elected to replace Kelly. Parents have criticized the decision, one calling it an assault on freedom to speech.

Miss Rowling has responded to her statements by defending them. She explained that although she felt there were “innumerable gender identity” but that using sex or gender interchangeably obscures the core issue.

Yesterday night, a member of staff at The Boswells said that 1,500 students aged 11-18 are enrolled.
