Last week, online photos were shared of Before and After pictures. It seemed that the right strap was showing a tear and the skirt had stretched at the waist.

Although the company stated that Kardashian was aware of the damages to the crystals and stitching, the statement did not address the tears in the strap.

DailyMail.com pressed Ripley’s to clarify the matter further. A spokesperson for Ripley’s admitted there were concerns about the “fragility” of the strap during Kardashian’s loan. However, they didn’t specify if Kardashian was ripped before or afterwards.

Kardashian was seen wearing the glittering dress – Monroe donned it in 1962 when she sang Happy Birthday, President John F. Kennedy – during the red carpet of the highly regarded gala. It took place in New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 2.

Kardashian, 41 years old, has recently been subject to severe backlash following her accusation of having ripped the garment. You can see the strap before and after she wore it.

She was recently subject to harsh backlash when she was accused of taking the dress apart and returning it with missing jewels.

‘I can verify that there was concern regarding the fragility strap prior to Gala’, a Ripley’s representative told DailyMail.com when asked about broken strap.

‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not! The dress isn’t the first to be owned. It was acquired at a Julien’s Auctions event in 2016 for $4.8 million,’ the museum wrote in a statement posted on its website.

‘A report written on the dress’s condition in early 2017 states, “A number of the seams are pulled and worn. It isn’t surprising considering the fragility of the fabric. There is puckering at the back by the hooks and eyes,” among other instances of damage.’

However, now, Ripley's has claimed that the impairment happened long before Kardashian got her hands on the dress, however, the company did admit to feeling worried about the dress' 'fragility' when it loaned it to her

Ripley’s claims that Kardashian was not the one who suffered from the impairment. However, Ripley’s did acknowledge being concerned about Kardashian’s ‘fragility’ as it loaned the dress to her.

Further explanations were provided by the company that the historical costume had been displayed at “a variety of attractions around the globe” over the years.

‘The company understands the risks associated with this, but Ripley’s Believe It or Not! The company has been collecting iconic pop-culture memorabilia, historic items and incredible artifacts over the past 100 years’, it said.

“The fact is that [Kardashian]The Met Gala’s short time that the garment was on display did not cause any damage to it.

Ripley’s VP of Publishing and Licensing, Amanda Joiner, added that she accompanied the ensemble on its journey from Orlando, Florida, to Manhattan for the event, and stayed by Kardashian’s side throughout the entire evening.

She reiterated that the dress was still in its original condition from the bottom, at the Met steps where Kim wore it, until the top of where it was returned.

In an additional statement, Instagram revealed that the company acknowledged there was a “calculated risk” associated with Kardashian wearing the dress. However, it said there was no disputing its fragility. The museum stated it allowed Kardashian to wear the dress to try to entertain and educate as well as spark conversations.

It added that, “No matter which side you’re on, the historic importance of the dress was not diminished, but highlighted,”

'The fact remains that [Kardashian] did not, in any way, damage the garment in the short amount of time it was worn at the Met Gala,' Ripley's said in a statement released Thursday

‘Notice the damage to the right strap in the back of Marilyn Monroe’s 1962 gown?’ Darrell posted the video on Instagram this week, as he was sharing the dress’s photo.

He also wrote another blog post highlighting stretched fabrics. Irreversible. Marilyn Monroe’s 1962 gown has multiple tatters now.’

‘Can [Kardashian]Be sued? Are you liable for the damage to your dress? Another asked. “This is completely disgusting.”

‘I’m so upset that she destroyed a beautiful piece history designed just for one queen… MARILYN.’

“She thought wearing the dress would elevate her. She so badly wants to be like MM,” someone else said.

Many of her followers shared their fury at Kardashian’s vocalization through a speaker. It seems that Kardashian’s wearing of the dress was now part Ripley’s video.

The audio recording could be heard by Skims founder explaining how she felt it was an ‘extraordinary’ moment for her to be allowed to wear the gown.

She replied, “I knew who would take care of the dress the most and know how important it is.”
