A robber who was compensated £7,000 after he was injured in jail while serving time for robbery is back behind bars after he blew the cash on drugs.
After being injured in prison during six years of imprisonment for robbery, Mark Russell (36), from Derby received this pay-out.
Two years after his release, Russell, a bin man, was taken into custody by police after he was caught dealing with drugs.
Officers raided a Derby house and discovered Russell’s heroin stash and cocaine, along with some cash.

Stockbrook’s Crecy Close home, his then-partner, was also searched and raided.
In total, more than £9,000 of drugs was recovered.
He was sentenced to four-years and eight months in prison on Wednesday, November 17th after admitting possession with intent supply at Derby Crown Court.
The court heard when he was released from prison, he was awarded £7,000 compensation for an injury suffered behind bars, then he got a job as a council binman.
The defence solicitor for the defendant stated that he quit because of a broken hand and had to leave.
Russell is a career criminal with 19 convictions from 1999 through 2019, which include robbery.
Russell, according to reports, arrived to court with his bags full knowing he’d be taken to prison.
Robert Egbuna, who was sentenced to four years imprisonment and eight months of probation, stated that all drugs were extremely dangerous as they are known.

“You dealt in substantial amounts. It has been stated that you were a drug user. Your criminal record (antecedent) supports this.
“There are many reasons why you shouldn’t be selling these types of drugs. It is not for your financial gain.
Dawn Pritchard, the prosecutor said that officers found a tub with heroin and crack cocaine in a living-room chair.
Mamba was also discovered during the raid.

PC Shazia anwar from Derbyshire Police stated that it was a wonderful result for Littleover. Russell had been selling drug that caused serious problems in the area. It is tremendously encouraging that he has been put behind bars.
She stated that there was also substantial money recovered, and defendant surrendered to police on April 6.
“There were messages sent to a mobile number relating the supply and distribution of controlled drugs.”
PC Shazia anwar of Derbyshire Police said that this was a fantastic result for Littleover.
“Russell sold drugs which caused serious problems in the area. The fact that he’s now behind bars proves that Rusell is a positive figure.”
“As a local police team, we rely upon information from our community and I would encourage anyone with information about drug deals to contact me in confidence at all times.”
Russell pleaded guilty in possession with intent of supplying class A drugs and class Mamba.
Nicola Hunter (mitigating) said that Russell’s criminal history is only due to his dependence on class A drugs throughout his life.
Miss Hunter said: ‘He was injured in custody and (on release) received a compensation pay out of £7,000.
“When he was freed, he had gotten rid of all drugs and was able to get a job as a garbage collector for his local council.
“He suffered a hand injury and was unable to return to work.
He was struggling to manage his mental health and began taking Mamba again.
“That made him turn to heroin and crack cocaine which he used to be addicted to, before he was incarcerated.”
Russell was given the opportunity to be present at an Proceeds of Crime Act hearing in January.
