After giving an unmarried lieutenant a lap dancing at holiday parties, a rookie NYPD officer made headlines and has since offered his wife a heartfelt apology.

Vera Mekuli, 26, has apologized to Melissa McGarry after giving her husband Lieutenant Nick McGarry a lap dance at Rory Dolan’s bar in Yonkers on December 15. 

Mekuli revealed that she has been working at home ever since the news broke. She also angrily spoke out about how she feels judged over this incident which she claims was fueled by misogyny.  

In a video that TMZ obtained, she stated, “I would like to apologize for the wife of the lieutenant,” “I hope it didn’t cause too many problems in the marriage, or in your private life.

She continued, “I’m sorry it has been difficult,” she said. “It was not meant to be this way, and I had no idea of your marital status.”

She claimed it was supposed to be for ‘s**ts and giggles’ and that ‘everyone had been having drinks,’ but it has led to embarrassment. He is now “working from home” this week.

Mekuli also said that the ‘mile of area’  that her precinct patrols made her worry that people will recognize her and go: ‘Oh, that’s the girl, she gave the lap dance.’ 

“My work me and my work self are different from the one on duty. As I did before, I’m still able to patrol the streets and enforce the law in the same way that anyone else can. It doesn’t matter if I’m in uniform or a lap dance, it shouldn’t make me feel any less.

Also, she claimed that she was harshly judged because she was a woman and not a man and that her rookie status played an important role. It would have been more of an amusing matter if she had been male, and it would have kept her house. 

Mekuli was seen grinding her back on McGarry’s lap while he sat in a chair. He also held onto her legs.

Another video shows the rookie cop turning around and facing McGarry. He then straddles McGarry as he grasps his waistband at her waist. 

The video shows Mekuli dancing on top of her superior, to the cheers of the crowd.

While one observer yelled, “Oh my god!” another appeared and handed the lieutenant some cash. 

She grinds on another man in a completely different scene. He is bent over, facing the ground. 

McGarry lives in the city's northern suburbs with his wife, Melissa, and their kids

McGarry resides in the city’s northern suburbs, with Melissa his wife and their three children.

NYPD brass wasted no time in disciplining McGarry, who has been with the NYPD since 2010.

After the video was made, he was apparently re-assigned to Transit District 12 in Bronx.

According to an unnamed source, the New York Post in the aftermath that he ‘knows he f***** up.’  

Source says that it is against the rules to be in a relationship with your subordinate. The source also said that the rookie cop didn’t know anything because she had just started on the job.

He said that he couldn’t tell you how often they told incoming supervisors this, and noted: “It sets an awful precedent.”  

Following the news of Mekuli’s raunchy encounter with her boss, her father said she has been crying over the ordeal  – and he now plans to sue. 

On Monday, the rookie’s father told The Post that his daughter had told him: “Daddy, I made a mistake. What I did was very embarrassing. My family and I were very embarrassed. 

He said that his daughter was upset by the whole incident.

He said, “She cried and cried,” She is still young. Although she isn’t sure how, he is married. He should be more aware.

“I will sue them.”

There was further drama on Monday when Melissa McGarry yelled at a New York Post reporter and photographer outside the house in New Windsor, screaming ‘F*** you!’ at them as she was restrained by her husband.

As his fuming wife continued her tirade, the lieutenant told him, “It’s not worthwhile, get back into the car.” 

Melissa McGarry said to journalists: “There are more things to worry about than this!”

As the couple drove away, Melissa McGarry took her hands off the steering wheel and flipped the bird to the reporter with both hands, screaming: ‘F*** you! F*** you! F*** you!’
