Russia is moving its troops to Belarus in preparation for live-fire and joint military drills. This comes amid growing fears of an invasion by Ukraine.

After President Alexander Lukashenko announced that there would be war games next month with Russian forces, trains and roads have begun to arrive carrying armoured vehicles. 

The United Resolve military exercises in Ukraine’s northern neighbor are occurring at the same moment as Russia continues to build up troops along Ukraine’s eastern border. It is setting the scene for an eventual invasion.

Analysts in military affairs have indicated that Russia might send its troops through Belarus to help out Ukraine’s defenses. They could also take advantage their 700-mile border.   

Lukashenko, his security henchmen and others have pointed out a alleged increase of Ukrainian forces close to his border. It suggests this warrants a larger military presence.

Russian inspectors today visited Britain’s military facilities under the Vienna Document 2011 on security and confidence-building. Tensions are high. Sergey Ryzhkov (head of Moscow’s National Nuclear Risk Reduction Centre) said that this was because tensions are high.

He stated that the inspection would take place January 18th, 2021 and last for one hour.
