After his desperate appeal to be allowed to live with other prisoners, one of Britain’s most notorious serial killers has been sentenced to death in underground glass boxes.

Robert Maudsley is being held underground in HMP Wakefield. This comes after he killed four men between 1974-1978.

This week, the Liverpudlian who murdered child molesters, and one woman killer, was informed that he would be held in his “glass box” until he died.

The Daily Star reported that he was deemed too dangerous by prison guards to be allowed to mix with West Yorkshire prisoners.

A source told The Times that the insider said: “He was not told last month, but appealed against it and wanted to celebrate Christmas with others.” He was just told “no” for the last time.

“Being left alone for so long is a punishment.” They can’t take the chance of him doing something and he is not OK.

They simply can’t take that risk.

Robert Maudsley (pictured), aged 68, is held below the HMP Wakefield population in a secret underground cell. This underground cell was created after he killed four men between 1974-78.

Maudsley now must live in an 8.5 x 4.5-metre cell that was made for him in 1983. The cell is bullet proof and protects Maudsley from any future threats.

He is locked in his cell for 23 hours each day.

He also has a table and chair made of compressed cardboard.

He was just 21 when he killed his first victim, Toxteth (Leeds), in 1974.

John Farrell was killed in Wood Green London after Maudsley showed him photos of the children he had abused.

He surrendered to the police, was found unfit for trial and was taken to Broadmoor Hospital. Broadmoor Hospital is home to many of Britain’s most violent prisoners.

Maudsley was generally good company during his initial years behind bars. He and David Cheeseman, a fellow prisoner, locked themselves up with David Francis in 1977.

Francis was tortured and killed before his body was left for guards in prison.

Maudsley was found guilty of manslaughter, and was sent to HMP Wakefield.

Maudsley stabbed and strangled Salney Darwood (46), who was being held for the murder of his wife.

Before he entered the room of Bill Roberts (56), a paedophile who had sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl, he concealed Darwood’s corpse under his bed.

Roberts was attacked by the attacker who slashed his head with a makeshift knife and beat him to death.

He was sent to prison for life with the condition that he be kept indefinitely.

He asked the court to let him die in 2000. In a written letter, you will ask: “What is the purpose of keeping me in prison for 23 hours per day?”

This week, the Liverpudlian was informed that he would be held in his “glass box” until he died.

“Why bother feeding me or giving me an hour of exercise each day?” Are you really taking a chance on me?

“As a result of my confinement and current treatment, I believe that I can only look forward to psychological breakdown and mental illness, and possibly suicide.

‘Why can’t I have a budgie instead of flies, cockroaches and spiders which I currently have. It will be a treasure that I love and that I won’t eat.

“Why can’t I get a television to view the world or learn?” Why is it that I can’t have music tapes so that I can listen to great classical music?

“If I am told no by the Prison Service, then I request a simple cyanide capsule. I’ll take it and Robert John Maudsley’s problem can be quickly and easily solved.”

According to the Ministry of Justice, it doesn’t comment on individual prisoner cases.
