Sir Paul McCartney stopped his Glastonbury headline set to make sure he checked on an individual who was unwell.

As the oldest single star in music history, the musician made history Saturday by being the first to headline Glastonbury Festival. He was a star on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm.

Music legend and music producer, Bob Dylan, performed for thousands of festival-goers a selection of his most popular hits. It was his first performance since 2004, when he turned the corner.

The Mirror was told by a source that Paul’s performance was greeted with cheers from the audience as soon as he entered the arena.

Paul stopped at the stage, pointed out the question area and asked: “What’s happening over there?” Are there any happenings? Let’s take care of it if so. Let’s get on with it. 

He added, “It’s OK we sorted that we sorted it.” You’re good, mate.

Then he joked that it wasn’t the solo he played. Alright.’

The event is an important moment in Paul’s career. This show also comes 55 years after The Beatles achieved the greatest audience ever, performing on the first worldwide TV broadcast. 

Paul greeted the audience at the beginning of the show and said, “Oh man! It’s so great to be here!” It was meant to be happening three years back! referring to his previous booking at the festival before it was cancelled by the Covid pandemic. 

The headliner wore a Nehru jacket in navy blue for the first moments, but he removed the jacket later, telling the crowd that this would be the ‘only outfit change’ of the evening.

Paul paid tribute to Jimi Hendrix during the performance with Wings’ Let Me Roll It and also reflected upon the times he shared with him in London.

He stated that he was a kind and gentle man. One of the greatest tributes he ever paid us was we released Sgt Pepper as a tribute to him and he opened his show with it, he played it really well as a solo… he was really working it, giving it a lot of welly.’

Paul had just celebrated his 80th birthday on Saturday. After his adoring supporters sang Happy Birthday, they joined him in singing I Feel like I’m Letting go, his 1995 hit.

Glastonbury fans were undoubtedly eager to see Pauls headline set. However, viewers back home wanted to catch it on BBC.

The BBC delayed Paul’s broadcast from 9:30 to 10:30. This caused a lot of anger among viewers who shared their dismay on social media.

Paul’s eagerly awaited gig was exactly 55 years ago, when the Beatles had reached their largest-ever audience via the first international TV broadcast. 

On June 25, 1967, the Beatles sang All You Need Is Love to approximately 400,000,000 people in 24 countries. This was live at Abbey Road Studios.

The studio also hosted a stellar audience, which included Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones, Keith Richards for The Who drummer Keith Moon, Marianne Faithful and Eric Clapton.
