Sir Tom Jones denied that he had collapsed prior to Tuesday’s show in Budapest, and claimed its sudden cancellation was caused by a viral infection.
He was 82 years old when he fell ill just before his Surrounded by Time European tour date. His doctors advised him to cancel.
However, he later refuted the claims that the MVM Dome collapsed in Hungarian capital. He claimed the show was rescheduled because of “viral laryngitis”.

He told Instagram followers: ‘Hello to all concerned. After a long journey from the UK, I arrived in Budapest last night and felt a sore throat this morning.
“Viral Laryngitis”, as it was called, was confirmed by a doctor. The specialist recommended that the show be postponed and prescribed medication as well as vocal rest.
He stated that he had not experienced “collapse” in any place at all. This is a rumor. I hope the inflammation goes away soon, as it is a great opportunity to continue my summer tour.
“Unfortunately, the show was cancelled last-minute. I’m very sorry. The show will be held in Budapest on August 16th. We are grateful for your understanding.

The star of Wales was initially thought to be dead before he started the show. He is currently touring the United Kingdom, mainland Europe and the United States on his current tour.

According to a source, he fell asleep about an hour before his scheduled performance. However, he hoped to be back to the concert.
But after private doctors’ orders, Sir Tom was forced to cancel the gig just minutes before he was due to take to the stage, according to stagehand Péter Kovács.
The venue also added a message in English: “Unfortunately, following the advice of doctors,” Tom Jones regretted not being able to perform tonight at the MVM Dome.
“The show will move to Tuesday 16th of August 2022. Tickets will still be valid at the new date.
“Sir Tom” apologizes for any inconvenience caused but is looking forward to seeing you again in August.
Local media reports state that the National Ambulance Service didn’t call the scene.
According to Hungarian media outlet Index, a spokesperson from Surrounded By Time confirmed that Tom was ill.
Sir Tom’s website has a new date for the MVM Dome Budapest tour scheduled for August 16.

On Friday, Sir Tom had taken to the stage at Henley Festival before performing in Norfolk and Halifax over the weekend, and then he headed to Budapest as part of his Surrounded By Time tour.
Sir Tom, who performed in Amsterdam on Wednesday night, took to Instagram and said that he enjoyed an “electric night” at Ziggo Dome.
Sir Tom is on the road for Surrounded By Time and has shared regular Instagram photos from his trips and shows.
More than 50 European and US dates are included in his ongoing tour. The singer will perform in Canada.Over the next weeks, there will be a variety of ties in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and Norway.

In August Sir Tom will return to the UK to perform more dates before heading to the United States.
He is planning to visit states including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Connecticut before heading to Canada to perform in Toronto, Montreal and Windsor.
After Sir Tom’s 55-date American tour, Sir Tom will return to America in order to play more shows. The final show will be held in San Francisco on October 12.
Sir Tom posted new dates to his tour on Instagram April 2, and wrote, “Really looking forward for hitting the road across UK/Europe in this summer!”

Following doctors’ orders in 2017, Sir Tom was forced by his doctor to put off a 21-date US tour.
On September 6, 2017 he was due to start his new run of live concerts in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and then continue the tour through October 7, 2017, with one final show in Tulsa.

In a statement, she stated that all US dates were postponed to 2018.
