Spider-Man: No Way Home is a box office success and Sony’s top-grossing film ever raking in $516.4M domestically and $1.16B worldwide, according to Tuesday’s box office numbers via Deadline.

The third installment of the superhero franchise starring Tom Holland as the titular comic book character overtook the last big pre-pandemic blockbuster, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker, which premiered in 2019.

No Way Home’s enormous success in just two weeks of its release in cinemas is a sign of strength for the theater business, many of whom had been deemed in decline by the popularity of streaming media in the wake of the pandemic.

Superhero super hit! Spider-Man: No Way Home is a box office success and Sony's top-grossing film ever raking in $516.4M domestically and $1.16B worldwide, according to Tuesday's box office numbers via Deadline

Superhero super hit! Spider-Man: Home is a big box-office hit! According to Deadline, the film was Sony’s biggest-grossing ever movie. The film grossed $516.4 million domestically and $1.16 billion worldwide.

No Way Home also stars Zendaya, 25 as Michelle MJ Jones-Watson (the superhero’s lover interest) as well as Tobey Maguire (46) and Andrew Garfield (88) as Spider-Man’s previous stars.

This third film, starring Tom the webslinger, has been one of the most successful movies to hit $1 billion in box office. It was also the first movie to achieve this feat during the pandemic.

Avengers: Endgame still holds the record, reaching $1 billion in only five days. Avengers: Infinity War took an additional 11 days.

Deadline claims that things will keep moving in the right direction for the movie as it has a better week ahead of the holiday.

Amazing! No Way Home's massive success, less than two weeks after it debuted in cinemas, gives a boost of hope to the movie theater business which many had deemed on life-support due to the rise in popularity of streaming services in light of the pandemic

Amazing! It’s amazing!

Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios collaborated on the highly anticipated sequel, which was distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.

No Way Home was Sony’s highest-grossing movie over Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, which earned $424.5 million in domestic sales.

Sing 2 (Universal and Illumination) opened during the holiday weekend and is forecast to make a $55 million profit over its five-day run. The Matrix Resurrections, and The King’s Man were its main competitors. Both are having trouble finding audiences.

HBO Max also has the fourth installment from Matrix.

Flying high: According to Deadline, things will continue on an upward trajectory for the film as it is set to have an even better third week at the box office following a slight lull over the Christmas holiday

No Way Home currently only has a theatrical release. This is contrary to the practice of pandemic films that have been released simultaneously on both streaming and in theaters.

Starz has rights to Sony’s pay-per view flicks and will make the movie available for streaming via Starz. An exact date however has yet to be announced.
