Yikes! Two couples made major mistakes at the conclusion of their Strictly Come Dancing Quarter Finals on Saturday. It was quite a drama-filled event.

John and Johanne had started off well performing an energetic routine to We Are Family by Sister Sledge, but thing’s went pear-shaped as professional dancer Johannes gave John his wrong hand as they began the lift.

John ended up having to do an awkward lift. Johannes then appeared to loosen his grip, landing heavily on the flooring.

Craig Revel Horwood said that, despite his acid-tongued remarks and his usual acid-tongued humor, he still loves when things go wrong.

With a multitude of tricks and flips throughout, the routine seemed to be going perfectly.

The dance was over, and John had to struggle to get Johannes into the air.

After a brilliant attempt, John appeared to let the South African dancer fall out of John’s grasp. But Johannes, ever professional, styled the situation and was able to land on the ground in style. He even managed to pull off an impressive pose.

Johannes groaned as they made their way to the judges. He said, “I am so sorry!”

Tess Daly inquired about his sorry, and he answered: “Because he gave me the wrong hand.”

Craig said, commenting on the routine: “It is a shame about what happened the last bit.”

“Look, when things go wrong, I just love them. However, your darling had no chance and had to be thrown on the ground in the end.

“Normally, it’s an amazing lift. I would like to see it working again. However, it lacked some dynamic. This is something that you must improve.

Motsi Mabuse said to the couple: “I just gonna forget about the end!” Before praising them for their “different energy, and approach”,

While Anton Du Beck joked: ‘I’ve had a few partners I wanted to put down’ before praising them for letting go of their inhibitions.

They were awarded 32 points despite their error.

AJ meanwhile also had a nightmare during the quarter finals as he grand lift at the end of her salsa to Rhythm Is Gonna Get You/Get On Your Feet by Gloria Estefan didn’t go according to plan.

Kai, the presenter, and Kai, the pro partner, were getting really into things as the routine approached its end. Kai couldn’t get the two of them together to pull off the lift. Kai was unable to raise AJ’s leg properly as he tried to lift it.

He admitted defeat and put her down. The duo tried to ignore it, but AJ managed to pull off a great pose towards the end.

The show comes as Motsi Mabuse returned to the judging panel after being forced to take a week off after being pinged by NHS Test and Trace.

According to 40-year old professional dancer, the triple jab is temporary. However, she’s currently in Germany, and cannot return to Britain due to UK Government guidelines that do not recognize her vaccinations.

Motsi’s news comes a week after Craig Revel Horwood was forced to pull out of the previous week’s show after testing positive for Covid-19.

Motsi took to Twitter to express her disappointment.

‘Being double vaccinated & booster as I am, would normally mean exemption from isolation under the ‘close contact’ rules, but unfortunately German EU vaccinations are not recognised and neither is my booster in this instance.

“So, I have to follow UK Government Guidance. Can only return to the UK after the 30th November 2021. I am positive for my health, which is why I’ve been tested numerous times in the last week.

“I’m healthy and I’m with my family, that’s all that matters!” I wish everyone good luck, sending you my love. Keep dancing. Keep dancing.

According to the government’s website, the EU Digital Covid Certificate. (EUDCC), is not accepted as proof of vaccination by passengers traveling to the UK.

A spokesperson for the show then confirmed that guest judge Cynthia Erivo – who covered for Craig last week – would return to take Moti’s place.
