Formula 1 legend Sir Stirling Moss left almost £21 million following his death last year, so you might expect his only son Elliot to be living a life of luxury and fast cars, just like dad.
It’s not true. Not so. I have discovered that Stirling’s will was twisted in a way that Elliot, 41-year old restaurateur, has received only half of it. I also hear that his relations with his mother are crumbling.
Lady Susie Moss received the bulk of Stirling’s estate and perhaps she has her reasons, but a friend tells me: ‘She hasn’t helped Elliot financially even though she lives in a £10 million house and got nearly all the fortune in the will.’
Elliot works as a humble cook in his 20-seat restaurant Plu. He has only Helen, his wife, and a part-time waitress.

A strange twist in how F1 legend Stirling Moss’ will turned out means that barely a fraction of the fortune has gone to his restaurateur son Elliot, 41. Pictured with Elliot and sister Allison in 2000, along with dad Stirling (left) and Susie (right).
Plu finds himself in a difficult position as Covid cases are increasing. He doesn’t know what to do or where to go for assistance.
“To maintain the business, Elliot had to sell his 1952 DB2 which his father gave to Aston Martin when he was 9.
‘He got very little in the will – it all went to his mum. She is not yet clear if she will allow him to access his father’s fortune.
Elliot trained at Le Gavroche with Michel Roux Jr. He opened the Primrose Hill restaurant in Primrose Hills, North London in 2019. Although it has proved popular among locals, Elliot’s cancellations of Covid have been costly.

Following Stirling’s April death, the estate was handed to Lady Susie Moss. Pictured: Moss in a Mercedes at the British Grand Prix
The friend added: ‘He was left a relatively small sum of £132,000. He is not an enviable man. He wouldn’t be surprised if his family had left him millions.
“It is quite surprising that most of the estate still remains in his mother’s hands. She hasn’t so far helped with the business – Elliot relied on furlough at one stage.’
Elliot is a humble Londoner who has made his home a talk. Michelin judges have been praising the ‘highly innovative dishes’.
He refused to comment. Lady Susie couldn’t be reached.

Jamie Oliver, TV chef and television personality, asked his viewers last week for their beef-cheek stew. However his personal tastes tend to be simpler.
Jamie (46) shared this snap on Instagram of his guilty pleasure of taking salty vinegar-flavoured Hula Hoops and stuffing them in a block cheese, all while enjoying a glass of whisky.
He describes it as ‘filthy and genius’ – I’m with you, Jamie.
