A disturbing video has been released showing a terrified dog fighting kangaroo in an encounter on a suburban street.

Tiana Liard captured the moment Barnie, the canine companion of the giant kangaroo at Golden Bay (62 km south of Perth), ran into the terrifying encounter.

Barnie was out on a morning walk with his owner, when he encountered the kangaroo.

As a golden retriever, the brave and stoic kangaroo acted as a street guard dog, it was seen in an aggressive position.

Far from its bushland home, a kangaroo was seen showing off it's height to a defensive dog in a video uploaded Saturday from Golden Bay, 62km south of Perth

A kangaroo, far from its bushland habitat, was seen displaying its height in an upload from Golden Bay (62 km south of Perth).

The cranky kangaroo was standing in an attack position on its hind legs as a feisty golden retriever acted a guard dog for the street

As a vigilant golden retriever, the cranky kangaroo acted as a street guard dog by standing on its hind legs in attack mode.

Ms Liard claimed that Barnie started the conflict with her roo swiping.

She stated that the kangaroo had given three or four short jabs, then stood in a fearful stance.

You can see the dog approaching the roo many times in the video.

The roo was able to stop fighting and returned home with his owner.

After bouncing out, the roo ran down the street to escape.

Ms Liard thinks that the reason the courageous pup gave up on the fight was due to his owner calling him.

She said that Barnie was only running away because a man was trying to get the dog’s owner back safe.

After close inspection the pup decided the kangaroo wasn't a threat and went back to its owner and the roo took to chance to run

After careful inspection, the puppy decided that the Kangaroo wasn’t a danger and returned to its owner. The roo then took the opportunity to run.

The footage shows the puppy approaching the roo several times. The roo didn’t react so the puppy gave up and returned to his owner.

After bouncing out, the roo ran down the street to escape.
