A substitute teacher in Texas has been relieved of his duties after bringing a karaoke machine to class and belting out Britney Spears’ hit Toxic.

Unidentified male replacement was fired early Friday, after breaking into song during Bowie High School’s first period.

KAXN TV spokesperson said that he had heard better Britney Spears songs, but that the lighting was too bright. 

The incident was captured on video. It shows the male replacement sitting behind a desk, wailing as the multicolored lights in the classroom dazzle.

After bringing his karaoke machine and singing Toxic by Britney Spears to school, a substitute Texas teacher was relieved.

“I am addicted to you/Don’t you realize that you are toxic?” She sings with impressive vocal ranges. “And you love what you do/Do you realize that you are toxic?”

Although rumors were circulating on campus about a man pretending to be a substitute teacher for the school, the district has confirmed that he is a registered substitute.

District also confirmed that the school does not have a karaoke system and the substitute had brought it to the class.

The teacher was not charged with any criminal offense and his arrest is still not in the works. However, it isn’t clear if the teacher performed the show as a joke or to cheer up students by his dulcet vocals. 

The Austin school district stated that the teacher had to be asked to leave the classroom after his first period, because he was not following the rules. [the district’s] best practices.’ 

District stated that teacher was cleared by background and checked through front desk prior to class. 

District stated that all processes had been followed and it was simply the case of someone substituting for our procedures.

The teacher was reportedly relieved from his duties and took up another position at an Austin school on Friday. 

However, there were no further reports.  

Staffing problems have caused closures in schools across the nation. 

According to the school district’s website, closures of 8,692 schools in August were caused by’staffing concerns and mental health issues’. BuriboAn organization that monitors websites of school districts. 

In an effort to lessen the strain on already stretched staff members, many schools shut down last week for the Thanksgiving week. 

This has resulted in administrators being able to take over cafeteria and janitorial duties, along with filling in for teachers in the classroom.

This situation seems to reflect a wider labor shortage that resulted from millions of people being forced out of work during the coronavirus epidemic.
