Beach huts are in high demand this summer for staycationers who want to rent one for a day, weekend or week – and prices reflect their current popularity.
Many of the huts in this area have retained their Victorian or Edwardian roots and given them retro updates. Other huts pay tribute to contemporary architectural trends. Some even go up to two stories with glass balconies.

While rental regulations vary by country, it is common to be allowed to stay overnight in huts that do not have electricity or running water. On most beaches, you can expect to leave at 10pm and arrive as early as 6 AM.
They’re great for families who want to camp on the beach all day without the hassle of bringing summer essentials such as deckchairs, sunloungers, parasols and beach games, which are often included with the hut.
Local councils own and rent out huts on their best beaches, but you’ll find plenty of options from individual owners through agencies such as beachhuts.com and beachhuts4hire.co.uk.

Bournemouth is home of five beaches with long, sandy beaches. It also has 250 beach houses with ramps that are accessible for those with disabilities.
Lyme Regis, on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, is home to rows to rows of simple, white-wood huts with pastel-coloured doors which can be rented by the day (from about £12), week or even year. Many have been snapped up for summer, but remaining dates and cancellations can be found under ‘beach hut availability’ at lymeregistowncouncil.gov.uk.
Bournemouth has five sandy beaches and 250 beach huts. There are ramps for disabled people. Find its offerings at bournemouth.co.uk, and expect to pay about £130 a week.
Cromer is a sandy and shingle beach located in Norfolk. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy Cromer crab and local seafood. Sheringham, on the other hand, has dozens of beach huts. Some summertime availability is left from about £210 a week (north-norfolk.gov.uk).
