According to a study, blue-eyed singles are most attracted by men who use dating apps. However, men with hazel eyed eyes tend to get more matches than those with brown eyes, according to a recent survey.
Lenstore, the UK’s contact lens supplier, did the research and created profiles for male and women models on Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge.
Digitally changing the color of their eyes allowed researchers to measure how many matches each received. Other aspects of their profile were unchanged.
Results showed men with darker coloured eyes were the most appealing to women. Blue eyes were the most attractive to men.
FEMAIL was able to speak with UK experts who explained the reasons these colours are so appealing and the science behind the reason people may be drawn to certain eye colors.

WHY DARKER EYES ARE DESIRED BY WOMEN
Looking at how our eyes evolved and what this means, Dr Alexander Lapa from Ocean Recovery Centre, who is a psychiatrist, stated that darker eyes are historically more appealing.
“Our Homosapien ancestral ancestors from the beginning are believed to have come close to today’s equator in central Africa.” said Dr Lapa.
Exposure to UV light of high intensity was a consequence of living so close to the Equator. As a result of natural selection, people with darker skin or eyes had a higher chance of survival and thus, more likelihood to procreate and pass their dark traits on to their children.
“This strengthened darker skin, hair, and eyes in the gene pool.”
WHY DON’T MEN LOVE BLUE EYES
His comments about lighter eyes were: “Cultural factors often determine the collective consciousness of how attractive people are.” Blue eyes and blonde hair were valued highly and were often highlighted and depicted in media.

“Some studies suggest that people are more attracted to others with the same physical characteristics as their parents, or themselves,” said Ness Cooper. Ness Cooper, a sex expert and relationship specialist said that this can be as simple as a liking for the same eye color.
“Although the research is limited on this, it could be that our eye colors are similar to those of caregivers who we have when we were younger. It may just be that hormonal releases in childhood cause us to bond with them, and not because we have a genetic link.
Chris Pleines of Datingscout.co.uk is a relationship expert. Pleines said that everyone has a particular type they are drawn to. People who look like us or remind us of loved ones are often what we are attracted to.
“The hormones responsible for attraction can be activated when someone triggers a similarity with others that have been loved for in their lives.”
SEXUAL TENSION REVEALED VIA THE EYES
Chris stated that the eyes were the most expressive features of the face and can be used to tell if someone is attracted sexually.
He said, “You can see if a person’s emotions are happy, sad, sincere or lying by their eyes.” This is what attracts people.
“It can help a lot to build sexual tension. It is easy to see hints of potential mutual attraction by just looking at someone’s eyes.
