New Zealander, John O’Connor, left ITV viewers in shock while displaying the enormous potato he had grown in his garden. It is believed to be one of the largest in the world.
Colin Craig Brown found an enormous, misshaped potato weighing nearly eight kilograms while weeding his garden near Hamilton.
Today, he appeared on This Morning to reveal the following: potato is set to undergo ‘DNA testing’ to prove it hasn’t been genetically modified before it can bag a Guinness World Record.
Both viewers and hosts Philip Schofield and Rochelle Humes were left in stitches after the light-hearted interview, with Colin hailed a ‘legend’.

Colin Craig Brown was tending to his vegetable garden at Hamilton’s small farm when he came across a huge, smashed potato weighing almost eight kilograms.

He spoke out on Today’s This Morning, explaining that the potato would undergo DNA testing in order to verify it’s not genetically modified.
Colin said, “We are accidental champions.” It wasn’t grown intentionally, and it caught us completely by surprise. The weeding was a routine task.
I initially thought that it could have been white sweet potatoes we had grown. Then I realized it was much too big. Then I said, “We must get it out of there!” Like an angry Viking, I thrust my fork into ground to get me a great potato.
Rochelle and Phil, the presenters were in hysterics over Colin’s recollection. The farmer revealed that he had named the spud Doug after realizing it was a potato.
He said, “We have grown many spuds in the past but not like this.” “What were we going to do with it?””.

After the interview was lighthearted, both viewers and hosts Philip Schofield as well Rochelle Humes were in stitches. Colin was hailed as a “legend” by his audience.
Their unusual August 30 discovery of an ugly potato on their farm has made them a star and they are eager to get the plant certified world-famous.
A sample of the vegetable will be sent to Christchurch University for analysis before the entire potato is sent to Scotland for further inspection.
Colin said, “See this section here. That’s where the part that was cut off.” ‘It’s going down to Christchurch. As far as I can tell, it’ll undergo DNA analysis and then it will get sent to Scotland.
The host Rochelle said that the vegetable was a little mouldy. But Colin replied, “He had the ravages time. I just put him in the freezer.”

Rochelle and Phil, presenters of the show were in hysterics over Colin’s recollection. The farmer revealed that he had named the spud Doug after realizing it was a potato.

Doug, the potato, is so huge that Colin and his companion have taken to carting it along on wheels.
Phil was concerned that he had been using baby oil to rub the potato. Colin countered, saying: “Nah mate. A little bit of water is all it takes.
Viewers thought the segment was funny, and one wrote that Doug the King of Potatoes was the best thing they’ve seen.
One amused viewer said that Colin was someone she would want to be friends.
A third said that they had spent too much time discussing a potato on #ThisMornin.
